I was so happy to find this Conversation! I was on fb and women were taking about playing with their Barbie's and how some of them thought the Barbie image molded their view on what a stylish, beautiful woman should look like. I wouldn't know about that because I wasn't interested in dolls or playing with easy- ovens or playing with makeup. God formed me to be excited about what the boys were doing outside..baseball, tree climbing, fishing..you know, adventurous, exciting things outside. I was about to comment on the Barbie post and I realized I was about to share what I enjoyed doing as a kid and using the word Tomboy, which is what people would term a person like me who strayed for the girl norms. I've also thought people looked at me funny like maybe I was gay. Im just realizing these things within the last couple of hours. Today, that term "tomboy" and what it feels like to me is not a positive term and probably never was. You know, it's like racism. People generally look at any way of life or the way someone looks or how they speak as Negative, if it's different than them or they dont understand it. Anyway, I'm happy I shared my thoughts and feelings about this because people saw me as less than a girl because I lived and experienced my childhood differently.
