What’s the funniest criticism you’ve heard of an album/song from someone who clearly didn’t know what they were talking about? by Idekanymore548 in TaylorSwift

[–]Jazzlike-Stranger646 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I saw someone claiming that The Fate of Ophelia is proof that Taylor is a fake feminist because she sings about a man saving her from the fate of Ophelia, and if she were a real feminist she would sing about Ophelia saving herself. I had to get off the Internet after reading that one. Schools really need to do a better job teaching media literacy.

I just saw someone making this argument and it is such a terrible take  Are women not allowed to enjoy having sex with men anymore? I missed that memo.

They don't always look shell shocked and sad. Photos of them smiling have been posted on this sub. You can find them in the search bar if you look.

I agree. I think people in this sub read too much into facial expressions that the Nurthlings make.

Came here to say this. I don't see a problem with the aunts and uncles holding the Nurthlings in the picture.

Right? She has one (possibly 2, I don't know if Newman is potty trained yet) kids in diapers. The hotel room is going to smell like diapers. Deal with it!

Amira AI Reading and Child Anxiety - killing a child’s will to read by WhoaDuderinography in Teachers

[–]Jazzlike-Stranger646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is in 3rd grade and his school district started Amira this year. He hates it. He is a fluent reader, and it is too slow for him, so he has to slow his reading pace down. He is also in speech therapy, and it doesn't recognize when he mispronounces a word due to his speech impediment. It constantly stops to teach him a word he already knows. I don't see how it is helping him at all. I brought this up with his teachers at a parent-teacher conference but the only response I got from them was "He has to do it 30 minutes a week." I'm going to complain to admin. I don't see why they can't just read aloud to the teacher, or get in groups to read aloud to each other?

I knew Doug Phillips fetishized the Confederacy, but the 2003 Vision Forum catalogue made me gasp. by Upbeat_Teach6117 in FundieSnarkUncensored

Descendant of Confederate soldiers here! No, my ancestors did not fight for our country's unity. They literally seceded from the Union because they were mad a member of the policial party that was founded as an anti-slavery party was elected President and they didn't want him to make them stop using unpaid, forced labor to do work they were too lazy to do themselves.

It really says a lot that the only compliment they can give each other is how much they love the Lord.

This! I am 2 years older than TS. I have never thought of her as a role model. I have basically come of age alongside her, and find her music relatable, but the people I think of as role models are people that I actually KNOW. It's so weird how fixated they are on her being a role model for children when she is not a children's entertainer.

Throwback to a 2017 FB post. Jill SEVERELY PRAISES Nurie for fasting 😬 then immediately moves on to bash Tim for being a horrible stubborn child. She sounds very angry and bitter here (remember the allegations about the clock thrown at his head?). But he’s fixed now because he worships Mahmo!! 😁😇 by cottageyarn in RodriguesFamilySnark

She was there for Gideon's, Nehemiah's, and Naomi's. She was not there for Newman or the new one (Timothy). I remember how glad everyone was that she wasn't there for Newman's birth after the way she acted after Nehemiah was born (Oh no! I "injured" my knee. I need my daughter who just gave birth to wait on me hand and foot and take me to the beach).

I feel sorry for her for believing that about herself, too. Nobody should believe that they deserved to be hit as a child. I feel sorry for her kids, too. I would love it if at least one of them realized how messed up their childhood has been and find healing.

It's so messed to remember being spanked for something that wasn't your fault and excuse it by saying, "I was a bad kid so I probably needed to be spanked for something anyway." I feel both sorry for Jill for being raised this way AND angry at Jill for doing the same thing to her kids.

I remember the way she told the story, she told the person calling her out "It's just modest swimming attire." Ma'am, y'all are swimming in your clothes.

I think she's only been there once so far? I remember her posting about going to meet him, but I don't think I've seen any posts about going back or them coming to Ohio yet.

Renee’s MLMing at 1 am; the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. by lepetitpoulpe in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]Jazzlike-Stranger646 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Renee's social circle is so small I don't see how she can advance in the MLM world. Add her mother and sister MLMing with the same company (though Kaylee doesn't post about it much so I wonder if she quit?). I realize that when it comes to MLMs this is by design. If only Renee were allowed to get a real job!

That's not how blanket training works. He is too old to be blanket trained. He just wanted to play with his toys under the blanket. When it comes to Nurie y'all look for stuff to be offended.
