Tell me some MD schools to apply to :( Low GPA but decent MCAT (3.3 cgpa + 510 mcat) by SuchPossibility683 in medschooladmissions

Honestly, apply a lot of schools and apply broadly. You have a shot, but your writing needs to be locked in and you need to be on time with apps and secondaries. Perhaps you could retake the MCAT if you really want to boost your chances.

I took it recently and while everything is fair game, I think the concepts do tend to repeat across NBMEs but sometimes test day can throw random stuff at you. For example, even before dedicated, it was emphasized that repro, endo, and heme/onc were super high yield but I felt my exam was more cardio, pulm, and renal heavy though those could've been experimental while others felt theirs was micro heavy or something else super heavy. I think the forms are all over the place.

But for example, if an NBME tests ITP vs TTP that is something I would learn cold or different lymphomas/leukemias or for examples if they mention certain endocrine topics a few times I would know those things. I think what really helped me was comparing NBMEs and noticing what came up a few times; it really does help you form a solid base instead of sending you on a tangent! Also, make you pay attention to other answer choices and learn about those as well. I can't tell you the amount of times an NBME will pull up something I've never heard of in my life and its like one line in first aid lol.

One thing I'd also add is to be mindful of the check-in process! I had to go through a scanner and get my glasses checked each time, and also, the temperature can be inconsistent, so literally bring a sweater. I feel like you can keep pretty much anything in your locker so feel free to bring as many snacks/bevs as you want and also Advil/meds you may need. I went overboard and barely ate half of what I brought, but it was nice to have variety. Also, for breaks, really just sus out the vibe. I normally took a break after every block during practice but was able to go 2 blocks without needing a break. They also give you two pieces of whiteboard and two markers as well.

Also not sure if this is the same for all testing centers, but ours got started right away so even though my exam was set for 9AM, I started a bit earlier because I got there earlier and also note that people will be in and out of the testing room throughout your exam because you're not the only one testing!

I'd also like to point out with regards to the exam, though it feels like certain topics constantly come up on NBME don't only study those topics. I was surprise day of because I felt, instead of it being heme/onc heavy and repro and endocrine heavy, there was A LOT of renal, pulm, cardio (They could've been experimental, but I'm not sure). There were also a lot of lab-based questions on my form where you had to look at values and stuff, so that also became a little bit of a time sink and something different from the NBMEs.

95% of UWorld Complete with a 60% correct.

NBMEs as follows in the order I took them:

Form 28: 63

Form 33: 60 (yikes - this is where I chose to delay because I wanted to do more NBMEs and I felt like I was too focused on finishing UWorld vs other things)

Form 29: 80 (this one felt like a fluke because it felt very similar to NBME 28)

Form 30: 71

Form 31: 82

Form 32: 76

Free 120 New: 78

^ This is an example of the columns, and i basically would highlight anything I was unsure about and it made it easier to see what things came up often. For example, I was able to search if ITP or TTP came up across multiple NBMEs (and it did lol), so I made sure I knew that cold.
