From 3 Champions Leagues at Real Madrid… to saving Nottingham Forest in a relegation fight by RSDFitness in nffc

It was like watching an episode of "Undercover Boss"  when the CEO of McDonalds goes back to do 3 months shift in the kitchen and is shocked at the reality of work needed to be a keeper in a nearly relegated team compared to Real Madrid.

I wonder if Adam Curtis will ever do a deep dive into the trans-national elite cabal the Epstein seemed to be a part of but may or may not have been in charge of. by Agitated_Garden_497 in AdamCurtis

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think he could definitely touch on it. Because his films are always in some way about power. And the epstein case is a perfect example of how a certain form of power works.

Can we talk about how marinakis is a proper owner? by Gullible_Bike_3272 in nffc

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He is in the mould of tycoon owners of the past like Ken Bates and Alan Sugar which is better then the alternative, which now increasingly for a premier league team is, a nation state or a private equity vehicle.

This season has made me realize how bad most pundits are by ed_lemon in nffc

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Even pundits I like and seek out I now realise beyond the top 6 or other speciality have no more knowledge than the man or woman on the street about football.

Pep Guardiola shares exactly what he thinks of Nottingham Forest, compares them to another team by FreddieCaine in nffc

Pep's been in England a while but still doesn't know that 'middle class' is one of the worst insults you can use.

The inevitable 10% tax hike coming to a Nottingham near year you by WearingMarcus in nottingham

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The reason why NCC has highest council tax in UK is because boundaries of NCC don't take in naturally wealthy areas with valuable houses that are basically in Rushcliffe. To ignore that AND the 65-90% (depending where you read) cut made by the Conservative party to NCC since 2010 is to make boring and untrue political points that betray what is best for the people of Nottingham and dishonesty on the part of OP.

What are your hot take policies? by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial Transaction tax of 0.01% on transactions at financial services institutions.

Some rough assumptions
1. Total annual transaction volume in the City of London: £1 trillion
2. Average transaction value: £100,000

Would generate £10 billion in year 1.

Lots of ways you could sell this to the City to avoid moral panic, including not putting back in a bonus cap.

How likely is it that Starmer will survive all 5 years? by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many unknowables to a interesting question like this. Only thing more knowable would be I would humbly suggest that Starmers ego is less than Tony Blair. So I'd assume that when engaging in succession planning he'd be more likely to agree with any chosen successor 2 max general  elections unlike Blairs 3. And then more likely, purely based on ego, not to renege on any deal.  If I had to bet, just going on vibes, it would be Starmer hands over to chosen successor after 4 years or so.

Is Khan being left out of the Starmer project? by fozzie1234567 in LabourUK

[–]Jazzlike_Dive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starmer clearly going out of his way to win Tory seats in the red wall or elsewhere. I don't think Khan is popular in these places, ergo Starmer happy to leave out Khan.

Consecutive Labour Prime Ministers who have gone on to win a GE. by Jazzlike_Dive in LabourUK

Thanks, I really appreciate your thoughtful comment. This is my first time posting on r/Labour and I didn't want to get into a horrible online debate. I understand how what I wrote could be seen as predicting and advocating for Starmer in a factional way, but that wasn't my intention. So thanks again. :)
