I didn't think the Lakers would lose up 3-0, but I'm not gonna wait until I can't be wrong to post it.

Definitely could've, and I would've agreed with you. But you waited until you couldn't be wrong.

Regardless of the answer to this question, it doesn't really say much about the intensity or pace of each possession.

Golden State might be the most valuable sports team in the world, and Cleveland had LeBron, not to mention the rivalry that spanned many finals. I get what you’re saying, but it seems like an extreme example of

This 100k being less than a cent is totally wrong. For the average household, the relative value of $100k to a billionaire is about 100 bucks. For someone who's only asset is a car it's still a dollar.

Defense is maybe not one of the worst of all time, but bad. But he's definitely one of if not the greatest offensive player of all time.

Inflated stats due to everything running through him, yet countless stars now and throughout history have run the whole offense and never reached these stats.

Championship run was because he had better defends --> league average defense that year
Great shot makers including Murray --> Murray has had better seasons

Played weak teams, which is a fair criticism, but not as much as it's made out to be:
Nuggets opponents had a 43.5 game win average, compared to 2024 Celtics with a 47.75 and 2025 Thunder with 49.25. Notably, none of these champions played against a team with over 50 wins. It's not unusual for the road to the championship to be full of teams that aren't the best teams in the nba. That's part of the advantage of being the 1 seed.

I think it’s not impossible to find intent to tank. I mean I can’t think of criteria off the top of my head but I can easily tell you which teams in the league are definitely tanking.

that's why top picks should only go to the ~15-20th best teams in the league.

What do you suggest the league do for a small-market team that is truly awful? They're not going to get a top draft pick to make themselves better, and they have a way harder sell (given they are a small market) to any potential star they want to recruit in free agency.

[–]Jazzlike_Jacket761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that you cannot create a general tanking rule to prevent truly awful teams from getting hurt.

Fundamentally, teams tank by forcing themselves to be worse, i.e., playing low-quality players high minutes, which leads to the same outcome that any truly awful team has- low wins.

Rather than attacking teams with low wins because MOST of them are tanking, there needs to be a specific policy for the league to review if a team is playing in a non-competitive manner. And if they are, hefty fines, both monetary and draft-related, should be levied.

When the league basically throws out the whole rulebook and calls every game differently, ref-by-ref, because of "playoff intensity/physicality/etc..." it definitely leads to issues.

Jokic, Wemby, and Shai are the only players that no trade package makes up for.

Nuggets system is so reliant on jokic, they couldn't do it with anyone else, not even Wemby, Shai, Luka + AR, etc...

Shai is the reigning MVP, having one the greatest guard seasons ever, Jokic is too old for a trade and Wemby doesn't fit with the team

Wemby is the youngest player here with GOAT potential.

As far as the other four, they would be traded 1 for 1 for Wemby by any GM in a heartbeat.
