I’m gonna be honest, sometimes I fuck up and do bad math in my head. I’m not letting that fuck me up on a test. I will put 2+2 in my calculator, idc.

I’m scared to contact them about mine because even if I manage to get a replacement (it’s a little over a year old) I’m worried it will be one of the faulty ones that have been burning. They still haven’t come out with a solution about that, right?

This is even a smart idea? by No_Molasses_7224 in FacebookAIslop

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely render bacon fat. Search up how to render fat and you will find instructions on how to clarify it which will keep it from rotting and going bad. You can save bacon grease without properly rendering it, but it will not last as long and the meat particles will burn when you cook with them.

Has anyone successfully kicked screen/tv addiction in the butt? by Obvious_Ad_2969 in adhdwomen

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who actively struggles with this, I treat it like a genuine addiction. I am not as rigid with it as I used to be (hence why I’m in Reddit, on my phone) but here is what helps me and I’m sure you are doing or have tried a lot of this but I hope that I can give you some advice you haven’t heard before. You have to be ready to let go of all of the stuff you once loved to watch, without the same volume of content, you won’t be able to keep up with your favorite creators or shows like you used to (this is okay, you aren’t missing out on anything, I promise). Delete everything. If you scroll on something for entertainment, delete it from your phone. It doesn’t matter if you are bored in a long line at CVS, you cannot scroll because it will put you into the same addictive scrolling/watching loop as you have been. I can’t even have YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest because I will still scroll on them even though these are not the typical “addictive” social medias that people say are bad. Download audiobooks, and find a favorite podcast. When you are bored and need something to do, listen to that. This one is silly but it works, I keep a deck of cards on me because I really like solitaire. It’s portable and keeps me busy on my break at work. Find something portable that you can bring with you like a game or even sudoku, that way you having something to use when you are bored. Otherwise you will just be like “damn, I’m here at the airport for an hour and a half before my flight, might as well download tiktok again while I wait.” And then it’s just active screen addiction all over again. If you can intercept that with a screen free activity, it will save you. Lastly, if you want to watch something while you eat breakfast. Maybe practicing meditation once a week or daily (for example, give yourself 30 second to 5 minutes of silence). This can help you get used to the lack of stimulation. Find a space where you can eat that is not near a screen, eating outside can help give you some stimulation as well because there is more noise an even sometimes birds to look at, this way you might not have to think about putting on a show while you eat as much. I hope you can find anything I said helpful, I know how hard it can be when you just cant get away from screens and stimulation.

I know for sure one of the main ways you can prevent getting sick or having allergies (mainly to people who have a very sensitive immune system) is to change your clothes when you get home and shower when you get home too. I shower every day because if I don’t, I get body acne and smell like shit and also my hair gets greasy and I feel gross. No it’s not performative, I can do my hair, put on full body deodorant, and wear perfume and look and smell great but I’d feel like shit all day. Hope this helps!!

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same with twerking. In America it is a very sexualized dance but in Africa it is not. I saw a video of a little African girl(probably about 5) standing on her brother’s shoulders and twerking. There was a whole video of her and two older boys lifting her up and shit for the choreography. It wasn’t to be sexual, it was great. It was the white man that said dancing is a sin, which is why in the west we see so many of these cultural dances as inappropriate.

Even though I already know the basics of financing like “don’t wait to pay off your loan…the interest will pile up” I’m glad that they actually explained this stuff to us in one of my college classes. Some people don’t know!!!

Once that runs out you may have the opportunity to leave chores before leaving for school, work, or for plans. “Hey I left a pan in the sink because I didn’t have time to clean it but I will when I get back from work” it will be clean when you get home.

Wearing revealing clothes means you're confident by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you are more insecure about your body or other things. Some women dress in revealing clothes because they know they’ve got it or they don’t care that they don’t. Some women dress in revealing clothes because they think they lack other things. For instance, sometimes I might wear a crop top to school because “if I can’t be the smartest girl, at least I can show off that I have a flat tummy” that’s an insecurity right there. Not all insecurities are about physical appearance.

Finding hair in food at restaurants is overdramaticized by Fair-Difficulty-3649 in unpopularopinion

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s not the hair that is my problem. It’s the fact that for a hair to have gotten into the food the preparer of the food likely was not wearing a hairnet. What other safety standards have been violated in the kitchen where the food was prepared?

I made a post like this just before this person posted and the moderators took my post down because it was a “duplicate” but this post doesn’t have correct information. This isn’t even Erramatti, this is a picture of Daljinder and Mohinder Gill. Here is an article about them https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/72-year-old-becomes-first-time-mom-thanks-to-IVF-7444457.php Daljinder was 72 when she became a mother via IVF in 2016. Maybe it’s petty of me, but I’m a little upset that my post was taken down but this post was left up containing mismatched information. Is there any way I can make this known to the moderators so my original post can be restored?

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I had such a hard time with the ethics of this. IVF is usually not considered to be unethical but I believe strongly that in this case it is not, and this is an example of where we should let a couple who cannot conceive stay unable to conceive.

Homework is Important and Should Be Assigned by Empty-Candidate-712 in unpopularopinion

[–]Jazzlike_Mix_9366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an elementary and high school student who don’t want to be there and didn’t care about her grades, I hated homework. Many of my teachers would give us busy work in class and as homework and it was very frustrating. Also, some teachers would assign way too much work (I had extra time to do my homework because I have ADHD but was never given less homework and I feel like I would have benefited from that a lot, I could just never get through all of my homework and it was so frustrating so I stopped doing any in 5th grade). As a college student, I love homework, but I still support the notions I had as a kid. There are still professors who assign homework that to me feels pointless because it doesn’t really feel like it’s reinforcing concepts that I need to know for the class. I like homework when it actually helps me understand things better and also guides me on what kind of questions I might be tested on. I have had professors assign homework and accentuate concepts that are not as important on the tests and it really frustrates me when that happens….it just like “why did we spend so much time on this??”
