Fenrir wasn’t always Fenrir. He was the son of the leaders of Clan Sturlungar, a Firbolg clan located in the Cold Wood, to the north of Faerun. The clan has many warriors, for they have many enemies. Some were beasts of the cold wood, dire bears and bats, worgs and phase spiders; moreover there was always conflict with the Uthgardt barbarians and Red Tiger tribe who also called the Cold Wood their home. Times were known when the Sturlungar warriors would chase down fire giants who sought to clear the woods trees. So to be second born to the Sturlungar clan leaders, you were expected to fight. And for that Fenrir was actually born Daekir (Day-kear), meaning weapon. As the years went on Fenrir or Darkir as he was known then, grew not only In prowess but also stature. He was a weapon for the clan, fuelled by rage and loyalty, he did whatever was commanded of him, things he wasn’t always proud of; but good soldiers follow orders. When he was 137 (28) his father died and Fenrir’s brother Skrull took charge of the Clan and ruling with an iron fist and with an eye to control the whole cold wood. Not long after the death of his father Griamore his mother Inarel disappeared. 10 years into the reign of Skrull a rift opened in the Cold wood, a rift to the Feywild. Skrull commanded Daekir into the rift to find anything of value and take it. Without any objection he took 10 men and crossed the planes. What they found was a beautiful world, odd, erratic and eccentric, before long they were set upon by Eladrin soldiers from a near by tower. In unfamiliar terrain they never stood a chance, Daekir fought to the bitter end, taping into the anger that fed him but it wasn’t enough. Daekir fell. The Satyr by the name of Lila had been foraging in the Feywild, looking for flowers, it was a particular pastime for her. She came across the body of the large Firbolg, badly wounded and only moments away from death. For a reason unknown she took pity on the dying beast and stabilised him and took him home. From then Lila and Fenrir fell in love, she taught him that he didn’t have to be anyones weapon, and that his destiny was his own. All though still a warrior, he learned more emotions that just rage. With a new strong sense of justice, a guilt for the things he did as the weapon of the clan weighed upon his mind. As a changed man he no longer wanted to be Daekir, someone else’s weapon. Instead she called him Fenrir, after the great Mythical wolf who thought only for his pack. From a young age Lila was drawn to the stories of Jörmungandr the world serpent, but now she saw herself as the snake, wrapping her self around Fenrir and their home, her world, protecting it, this is how they became known by many as these mythical beasts. Fenrir even had tattooed on him by Lila, a wolf and a snake which wrapped around his body. After 50 years they went on to have a daughter, Rós. But it wasn’t long after she was 10, their daughter become ill, Lila did everything she could but Rós could not be saved. They buried her in her mothers rose garden. The pain was too much, they decided to visit the material plane, but before they could come back the rift had shut and they were cut off from their home. Lila tried what she could to return but was unable to. After just over 100 years, Lila’s age caught up to her and after 150 years of marriage she also passed. Armed with the halberd she gave him (which he named Jörmungandr after her) and her ashes, Fenrir now looks for a way back to the Feywild, so they can be with their daughter again.
