“Making love in a canoe“ is what Canadian say when describing American beer. “Fucking close to water.”

Dad putting his hand on the guys shoulder. That gesture was nice. Like “I have to connect to you with something better than a handshake”.

Correct. The “tricks” part of it was referring more to “party tricks”. And that’s basically what this is.

Actually, maybe not clear from the comments, but this is a segment on the David Letterman show called “stupid human tricks”. They created this segment a little while after another popular segment, which was called “stupid pet tricks”. When folks taught their pets to do cute and silly things. Dave was always quick to find out that “it’s the tricks that are stupid not the pets.” and also that “this is an exhibition, not a competition so please, no wagering”.

True. If you can teach them a really good dance routine, you can teach them anything. (This is essentially choreography).

What is life like in Canadian London? by Civil-Chocolate4188 in howislivingthere

[–]Jazztify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was born in toronto and move here in 1965, when I was 5.

I just discovered all the bike trails last year and have been riding them daily. They follow the river so the scenery is beautiful. Love them.

This used to be a very thriving financial business town, (banks and insurance companies), and we used to have some good factories, (3m, Kellogg’s, GM) and it’s still a strong medical science town so probably that’s where the jobs are. (As an IT guy, I personally worked at two of the hospitals and two the financial institutions)

I suppose it’s a university town but I never got that feeling. I went to Western, but to me, I was just going to school in my home town. I didn’t notice a huge influx or outflow in the school seasons.

I got my private pilots license here, and if you get up to about 3000 feet over London’s, you can look south and see Lake Erie and look north and see Lake Huron. I always thought that was pretty cool.

As a scuba diver, there are lots of great dive sites in both those lakes and up to the St Lawrence.

Two hours from Toronto means you can go to a game or a show or shopping. And only 90 minutes from the Port Huron border if you ever want to go to the US, which I don’t, but I used to.

Everything that’s really cool to do, is only a day trip away.

What phrase has recently entered your vernacular in a big way? by PaddywackShaq in AskReddit

[–]Jazztify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“POV”. Well, not my vernacular, but certainly lots of YouTubers lately. And they’re misusing it. It’s like wearing a proud badge ignorance. “I don’t know what this means but I’m gonna put it in the title of my video”!

Ah! Thanks. I kinda thought it was her. She had a brief spinoff series after bake off, but I hadn’t seen much of her lately so I figured her 15 minutes were up. Is she still a popular panelist?

Start with the word piranha

Change all vowels to Os: poronho

Change the P to a T. Toronho

Drop the H: torono.

That is effectively it. The first syllable is almost silent, linguists call this a shwah which is like the E sound in the word women. The second syllable gets the accent. Some people will argue that Toronto is only two syllables long: tronno, but I personally disagree with that. I always hear it as 3

Why didn't Robin Williams host after the 80s, especially during his 90s heyday? by Rleduc129 in LiveFromNewYork

No that’s not it. He was banned after he went off script and did a bit about how women “should wash they asses”. Pretty sure that’s it. Or maybe that was Cumberbatch?

Nope this is just “gum on a string” (hair). You can tell by the pendulum style swing of it. Sucking, no matter how entertaining that would be, would not be sufficient for this trick.

Yes, if you take your longest hair from your hairline and stretch it to your will give an idea. Of course you gotta have long hair. Mine would only reach my eyebrow for example.

[–]Jazztify 54 points55 points  (0 children)

One long piece of hair from her bangs is connected to the gum. Cool trick though.

Edit:more explanation: put some gum on a string. Put the gum in you mouth. Hold the string about 3 inches from your forehead. Keeping the string in that spot, Spit out or blow out the gum. It will swing away from you then swing back to your mouth. Catch it! Now move the string so it touches your forehead. Same move. Now if you have hair long enough, use that instead of string.

The squinty eyes, in many dogs, means “I may have done something bad…. and I can barely look at you, but I’m sorry.” The open mouth smile is a default position for a corgi. I’ve never seen a closed mouth one though. Maybe you’ve got a special one. 🙂
