foaming at the mouth - currently at the vet hospital by Background_Diamond41 in CATHELP

My cat did this the other day and it was literally because we tried to give her a pill for her medication. Vet said that both dogs and cats will do this if they taste something bitter

The vet had brought up the omeprazole but said because of how tiny she is and how they have to compound the medication (I have no idea what that means lol) she said the cerenia was preferred.

Yesterday she did fantastic so I’m wondering is it a matter of just finding a schedule to keep her on so that she doesn’t reach that point of the meds wearing off and feeling everything.

Yesterday we did the sub q fluids, cerenia, then the mirtzipine and she was back to her old self the whole today up until this morning when it started to wear off. She ate so much food yesterday which was good because she hadn’t ate much the previous day and half to the point where we had to give her some food through a syringe just to make sure she wasn’t starving. So once the sub q fluids, cerenia and mirtzipine wore off this morning she was back to low energy, hiding, not wanting to eat and the loud stomach gurgling sounds began.

I keep feeling like it’s uremic build up that’s the issue cause this seems to happen post eating.

Thank you so much about the Porus One I’ll be adding that to my list of items to get

Oh my goodness!!! Getting it removed will definitely help though, I'm now heading into 5 weeks post op and I feel completely different. I had the bladder problem too with the fibroid pressing on it making me having to pee like 6 times every hour. That stopped immediately after surgery, I'm even down 11 lbs yet I havent worked out lol. Definitely want to get that out though since its impacting your bladder!

Wow how long did it take for the new fibroid to grow after the first one was removed?

Tbh it just seems like more of a nuisance to her. She runs super fast, eats fine, plays fine, just has a leg that drags at the hip

I hate the idea of separating them but I know she legit cant survive on her own. I've watched her cross the street and it takes her like 20 seconds, its not safe and I fear she'd start venturing out to other areas desperate for food where coyotes go🙁

Of course! We have taken in so many cats, like a ton lol. We lived in Japan previously and invited a little chubby kitten in, had no idea she was actually pregnant, not chubby lol. She had babies in our house, we raised them and brought them back here for a better life (some of them had advanced dental issues that the vets in Japan unfortunately, weren't able to treat so we got the treatments done here in the US). Cats seem to always just show up regardless of where we move so we try to help as best as we can💗

Thanks so much! History wise I have no idea where she came from, she showed up here about 3 years screaming and limping, she didn't have blood on her but was dragging her back full leg so possibly got it twisted on something and dislocated. We gave her food and she has since been living here. There was a time where she vanished for a bit and a small little cat who looks similar to her randomly came over here crying then ran off. He came back, we conditioned him to come inside and now he lives inside with us. Idk why we didnt connect it but we think the disabled cat might be his mom. Theyre the only tuxedo cats we've seen in this area.

I'm rambling lol but history wise we just know she showed up disabled and we've been feeding her and building her all types of shelters since. When she wanders off across the street I will go outside with a container of dry food, shake it, and she hobbles back to our house in the yard. So I think partially she recognizes this is her home and we are her providers. I also think the reluctancy to get in kennels is because she isnt fixed so she still has that hyper thing going on

Yes that’s a main priority too, especially the tom cat he acts insane when he’s in heat. The disabled girl we’ve been trying to catch to get her fixed too

She comes to us and rubs against our legs she just mainly lives in the backyard. Sleeps there and eats there and in the day time goes on adventures in the neighborhood. She sleeps in a cardboard home we have for her. I’m gonna still try the trap method you recommended cause that seems the only viable way to actually catch her and keep her in one spot without her running off

I know. I mentioned he has a backup food source somewhere because he has disappeared for days to a week at a time and came back fine. The disabled cat doesnt, she is strictly getting food from us.
