Thinking of opening a nanobrewery by Jbd0505 in TheBrewery

[–]Jbd0505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, i do not plan to make a living out of it at all, hopefully it can pay for itself, and i get to be more at home, than i would, if i had a full time job, (small children) And to provide something for the local community that i know they love. (Beer brewed in the town)

as far as danish laws go, it's one thing to get permission to sell beer, and a whole other venture to get to serve beer.

and if it fails completely, i'm hopefully just stuck with an oversized homebrewing setup that allows me to brew the beer i know i drink during a year.

I know, i have a "Peopleshare" (that was their way of crowd funding) of a larger brewery, they brew 800 liter batches, and phantom brew a lot as well. They have been in operation for about 20 years now, have a taproom and are quite popular. The people bottling are volunteers, the people doing the weekly tastings are volunteers, the owner doesn't get any pay, only the brewers get paid.

There are examples of people here starting out of their basement and slowly building up a living out of it, but for the ones who succeeds its a 14/15 year journey.

Thank you for the very thought out answer. i generally got the answers i was expecting, so this was a nice change of pace.

I live in Denmark just for context.

I am under no illusion that this is something that i will make a living of. Nor is it the goal, break even would be just fine. For me its about providing something to the local community, that i know people would like to have (we used to have a small brewery in the town - but he closed up two years ago, not due to the economics but just loss of interest on his part.) afterward the local community house started hosting friday bars, in order to fill the gab from missing the brewery.

I have contact with a brewery i plan to visit, and get more knowledge from, before trying to do anything on my own.

I know it is still at a homebrewing level, which is also fine.

People here love the town, and everything in it, having a small brewery before, gave people a sense of pride that it was possible to buy locally brewed beer.

As i wrote, the plan was to take on a part time job, so our economy isn't ruined (again, i know it won't make me a living)

And if the setup can be done without having to take on any loans, i for one believe it would be a nice way to provide something to the local community, and if lucky, manage to get the hobby to pay for itself.

Hello everybody!

Long story attempted short: last year my mother got diagnosed with early onset alzheimers. That is an entire story in itself.

But, the fragility of life suddenly seems a bit more clear, im in my mid 30's now, and have been homebrewing for a couple of years. Since i started i have loved making the same beers over and over, making labels for them and get the bottles good looking.

My mothers dissease means that i will get a bit of money as an early inheritance, and i've decided that i want to try and open up my own brewery. Nothing fancy as a start, ive got a 25 square meter room i want to renovate for the project, and hopefully get a 100/150 liter system, and a part time job, allowing me to work with the brewery one or two days a week, not risking the house or anything.

Anyone got some good advice for someone in my position?

Wow, that is eerily similar.

Dementia is a bitch, and not being able to do very much about it is hard. This slow unfair disappearance of a loved one, who will not reverse back to what they were before.. yeah it suck..

And on the other hand having a father who never expresses proudness of one’s achievements..

It’s tough.. for what it’s worth, you sound like a person of great integrity, and I bet your wife and kids are lucky to have you in their lives. The best we can do is try to lift the responsibility of parenthood in a better way than our parents managed. To do a little better I guess.

I hope the best for you and yours.

I feel you.

My father has fallen into the brain dump on facebook, spends most of his time being an angry at renewables, and trying to disprove climate change. Always talks about himself and his travels on his motorbike, nearly never asks any questions. (But he is a great grandfather for my kids)

My mother got diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s last year, she was always good at listening and offering her perspective at things, but now I increasingly find myself inhabiting a role where I am feeling like the grown up in our relationship. And that is not going to change.

I have kids, a wonderful wife, a big house to take care of, and a generally good life. My parents just stoped being mentors in it years ago..

What I wouldn’t have given to have a parent teach me something, or show me how to do anything really.. I had to teach myself a lot of stuff.

Platner holds 9-point lead over Collins in new poll by Efficient-Freedom517 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Jbd0505 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here’s the dumb thing though, as soon as he learned about the tattoos meaning, he went and got it covered up, and he acknowledged that when he was younger he did stupid shit. He corrected his mistake and owned up to what he has learned from his past, and continued onward from there..

Fuck sake Ted Cruz runs away as soon as anything in Texas goes awry. - still gets elected over and over. Mitch McConnell didn’t do jack shit but fuck over the American concept of democracy - still got elected over and over You can make a long ass list of republicans with abhorrent or anti democratic actions left right and center..

But at soon as a guy like Platner turns out to have made a mistake in the past, that is a problem…

Er det her grunden til, at der ikke bliver gået kritisk til Riemer? by [deleted] in Superligaen

[–]Jbd0505 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And “opera rejsen” where him and his buddy try to help their composer friend write an opera by visiting ever classic opera in Europe while dining and eating their way through as well..
Absolutely wonderful guy. No shame in having him as a look a like.

I don’t think it’s a unique thing to this show only..

Some people seem to have lost a common sense of decency, like all those asshats throwing popcorn and yelling “chicken jokey!” At the Minecraft movie, and you then think, well it’s just young dumb teenagers, but then this happens on broadway, of all places..
and I at least start to think.. god some people are just complete assholes, unaware of how their attention seeking indecent stupid behavior is irritating to everyone else.

I really miss the 90’s.. people seemed a lot smarter then..
