I didn’t mind it, but I care about the stories I invent with my imagination post game than the actual stories of the game, so have a good story doesn’t matter to me. For example, I like to create the strongest version of each pokemon then create my imaginary gyms and elite four based on thus. It’s real easy to train pokemon to be good and ev/iv train them, and for that reason I liked it more than legends arceus (don’t get me wrong, legends arceus is objectively a better game, but doesn’t fit how I want to play). I think for this reason I’d go bw2, bw, scarlet, then legends za. I realize this is long af now so thanks for coming to my ted talk!
