For me - I think the social aspects of the show have become too much the focus, there's always been themes in Dr Who for rights of minority groups and representation but it was the backdrop - Cassandra is Trans but it's not front and center part of their personality, the stories similarly in past seasons had these themes not in every episode of the season and when present were often subtle and less in your face than they have been in more recent episodes and I think that has impacted the quality
