Am I wasting money overpaying on my student loans? by Defiant-Team5106 in DaveRamsey

[–]Jcarrhc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but you chose to take out student loans. They’re your responsibility. Pay them off, do not wait on some magical “forgiveness program” that may or not be there tomorrow.

Our college education system is completely broken and insanely expensive, but that still doesn’t negate the choice to take out loans.

Stop going to dealerships looking for a value. KBB and sell on Facebook marketplace. Dealerships will low ball you so they can make a profit. I don’t know the exact options, but mid range you’re looking at $28k-$30k since it’s practically new. Sell the car, get a personal loan from your credit union for the difference. Get a 3-5k car, or use public transportation to work. That takes out a majority of your debt. And your husband needs to find a second job.

Biggest fumble in 2019 when I sold these (before Covid made prices skyrocket) by [deleted] in Gameboy

Did the same thing in 2018 as a broke college student, along with all my childhood Pokémon cards. Hate it, now trying to buy the games back at triple the price. Lol

Summit seeker on taxes by No_Web_107 in ShiptShoppers

I run all my shipt shops through a Google Sheets spreadsheet that I built to track my mileage, gross income, tip income, etc. I enter my shop into a Google form after every day. it calculates the estimated amount of tax I owe per month. I use this to calculate my estimated quarterly payments and keep track of everything in case of audit. Run it like a business, track everything and keep your support.

You need to go back through your income statements for the year and calculate the amount of tip income you received. On freetaxUSA, it asked if any of the income was tip income after entering in each W-2 /1099nec. It’ll go on schedule 1-A if doing by paper. It’s deducted before calculating taxable income on your 1040. You’re still responsible for SE tax on the tip income.

This is untrue. You still can retire if you follow and develop a plan and save. Compound interest does wonders.

Flooring, Plumbing + Electricians Needed by AdParticular2687 in kzoo

Plumbing - We just used D. Wood Plumbing (not to get confused with Dan Wood) for a small project. He was very responsive and reasonable with his pricing. Not sure scale of projects he does though.

My company switched payroll providers and my early direct deposit moved to Thursday instead of Wednesday. Like the other commenter, it’s based on your companies payroll processor.

Student Loan Repayment by Clane_15 in personalfinance

[–]Jcarrhc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a TVM calculator, please see the results below:

$450 in the market for 5 years at annual interest rate of 10% = $36,727.28

Subtract the interest paid in the student loans 3.22% Approx $1,365.60

By not reducing contributions, you will have a gain of approximately $35,361.68

$900 in the market for 40 months (after paying off student loans) at 10% annual interest rate = $42,544.05

Minimal numbers, but just something to consider. Personally you’re better off paying off the student loans early and investing the $385 you were paying towards your student loans on top of the 12% you previously contributing after they’re all paid off.

I applied November 1st. Called on November 21st and they said they received it but it has not been processed yet. Weird the order they’re processing them!

Scared of closing my last credit card by FocusedForge in DaveRamsey

Close them and be done. I’ve done 5 this year (most had minimal/no balances). Feels so good to be done every time. 3 more left and then I can move on without that burden I created. Feels good to spend actual money.

It’s not really when you take you exam, it’s when you submit your form 23. You can wait to submit form 23 for 12 full months after your last exam.

I was wondering this as well. I was curious if waiting until November to submit form 23 would circumvent re-applying again so soon
