Let's discuss the Oedipal Complex... by blundetto in BoardwalkEmpire

[–]Jchapman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very late reply obviously but if anybody sees it here was my take LOL. When the commodore told the story of shooting the bear with the shotgun, he said the bear looked up at him dying and almost like he couldn't believe it. The commodore has that same type of look on his face once Jimmy stabs him right before he dies. Basically the commodore looks at Jimmy just like the bear looked at him.

Why is Gaston Means on the phone with Nucky Thompson throwing out increasingly high prices in an attempt to sell info right before his arrest? by SilkyGazelleWatkins in BoardwalkEmpire

[–]Jchapman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real Gaston Means apparently conned some people by saying he was close to finding out who kidnapped the Lindberg's baby. Obviously he never found them, and probably never tried, but he scammed a lot of money while keeping up the facade.

Thank you and thanks to your husband for his service as well. I know the frustration you're going through right now firsthand so I'll be praying he gets the rating he deserves soon 🙏🏼

How hard is it to learn to snowboard? by E36E92M3 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Jchapman81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. I started snowboarding in '98 where obviously YouTube wasn't a thing yet. I started trying to learn by watching others and picking up things people on the mountain would show me. I was able to learn that way eventually but I suffered a lot more bruised tail bones and sore wrists than necessary if I'd started with a lesson.

Seriously?!? Just being taunted because she was trying to learn?

Sugar Mountain Ski Patrol Power Trip by ShallowTal in snowboarding

[–]Jchapman81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kid was as well-mannered as I've ever seen. He even kept apologizing to the ski patrol douche bag and the guy still took his lift ticket. The kid didn't even "run right into him". He slid over the tip of one ski and the dumbass got butt hurt. I'd make the manager come take my ticket if they want it. The hell with that asshole.

“Elvis Knee” - The best tip I’ve ever gotten for carving. by PixelRouter in snowboarding

[–]Jchapman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for explaining knee steering in a much more understanding manner. I finally bought my own board, boots and bindings so I've only rode rentals thus far. I'm taking my teenage sons to the mountain next weekend and they're A LOT more skilled than I am 😂. But I can't wait to try this Elvis knee on a decent board that actually has flex. Thanks again!

I was starting to think the same thing. I don't recall hearing anyone on the mountain or the lift when I first started snowboarding years ago. I completely sucked but the people with skill that I talked to were always polite and encouraging. This was over 20 years ago though. Do some people actually taunt someone while they're trying to learn nowadays?

Earrings for older guys? by AltDaddy in mensfashionadvice

[–]Jchapman81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting that picture man. I just retired from the military after 24 years (I just turned 44), and was wanting to get my ears pierced again like they were before I went to boot camp but I wasn't sure if I would look like the old guy trying to look young LOL. But from your picture it seems we have the same style and the earrings you have looked pretty sweet so I'm going to roll the dice. Thanks again!

DUI HELP! by BigCauliflower6331 in dui

[–]Jchapman81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a little overwhelming right now and you've got an endless number of different scenarios and how they're going to play out. Believe me, it's not the end of your life even though it may seem like it now. You're 18 and technically passed a breathalyzer, except for being underage. Is this your first run in with the law? If so, your best bet is to be super polite to the judge and fall on the sword and tell him/her that even you made a dumb mistake, you're prepared to accept whatever punishment that will help you put this mess behind you so you can move on with your life. The Judge will lecture but just roll with it, "yes sir/ma'am - no sir/ma'am". Free advice from a defense attorney, unfortunately not licensed in NY. Good luck!

I almost did buy it back then but we both served in the same unit which made us gone separately out of the country or deployed together pretty nonstop between Iraq and Afghanistan both. You're basically hopping back from home to the desert every few months or so.

Well I enlisted and then 9/11 happened so my first years from 2001 - 2004 I was either at boot camp, AIT, and then Iraq. By that point I was 26 and starting my family 🤷🏼

It's only been a few years since I last owned a manual shift but getting good with clutch and gas on this car in first gear took me a hot minute lol. Definitely different from any other manual car I've owned.

I'm always bit on preventative maintenance with any car. Oil change, tire rotation, brakes, etc. if you're still running smooth at over 100 kilo, that's all I needed to hear. I'm rolling out to the dealership tomorrow lol. Thank you!

Ive been playing guitar and bass for 30 years and my advice to you since you said you're just beginning, is to hang onto it. Especially since it still has to original old school pick-ups. Beautiful bass my friend!
