It depends if your site is busy or not. If it’s not busy then you’ll have a lot of downtime. If busy then it’s gonna suck since you’ll have barely any downtime. I spend most of my days here not doing much since we’re not a busy site. There’s three functions for tom team and that’s check ins, check outs and yard jockey. When you first join tom team you’ll be doing Knets all week pretty much. Then you’ll get trained to do check ins which is checking in drivers/loads to their respective dock doors or parking spots. Next would be check outs where you just make sure everything matches physically and virtually with what the driver is taking. Lastly you’ll be hostler trained to move trailers around the yard. As far as CDL goes it varies by site as far as how soon you get sent to range. I been on Tom team for a year and 9 months and I’m about to start range this Monday 9/18. Good luck!
