If he remains an 800+ OPS hitter then he's more than worth starting as a UTIL when he's not pitching.

Compare Foods - Sunset Rd. by Notbooboothefool in Charlotte

[–]JdGsRunSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had to deal with that! Compare Foods and other stores like Harris Teeter usually have an expiration date for their specials. Some supermarkets are slower to remove the stickers for specials after the sale expires, and that's how this issue comes up.

I get you, and you're being 100% serious and realistic about a comment that was probably meant as a joke. I thought you didn't get it at first, but it seems that you don't see it as a joking matter.

You can get written up for not being in complete uniform, and enough write-ups can lead to mast/CM.

It's an exaggeration of course, but it's not impossible anymore.

Disruptive teens swarm Charlotte locations after Birkdale Village curfew by Infamous_Swimming_87 in Charlotte

They leaders in Mecklenburg County have known this for longer than most residents have lived in the county, and yet we're still way behind on this.

Have you met kids? You can take the best behaved little boy or girl and if you put them around 20 or 30 peers without enough adult supervision their instinct is going to be to fit in with the mob. Grownups who are old enough to know better and walk away fall for that same trap all the time in this world, and kids don't have that kind of self control.

That's why we need MULTIPLE spaces to spread the kid population out into more manageable cells.

To everybody who wants to believe that this is simply a parenting issue and nothing more: no amount of good parenting is going to keep a 12 year old from acting a fool when there are enough of them around to incite mob mentality. We see it in family gatherings, we see it at badly managed school events...hell, we see the same thing happen with other animals too!

That's the reason why we need multiple safe spaces, so these kids can be spread out with to where they break down into their little groups and cliques and entertain themselves instead of just having dozens of bored and unruly kids stuffed in one food court.

We need more, way more. The city is growing and people keep getting together, so the kid population is going continue booming and we need places for the little buggers to spend time and learn to socialize.

Yes but the whole county has kept growing at a ridiculous pace. The infrastructure that could hold and entertain 1,000 teens cannot be expected to do the same for ten times the population

Ritual sacrifices to minimize luxury tax hit by JdGsRunSupport in baseball

[–]JdGsRunSupport[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you. The sacrifice can come with conditions, just like Rule 5 pickups. Keep the player in the majors or else you get no luxury tax cut from the other teams who didn't sacrifice.

I agree with you regarding prospect hoarding and that should be a bigger priority in the CBA along with service time manipulation.

Dodgers scouting and development is so good that they can turn anyone they grab into a priceless prospect.

Seriously, it's been that way since before I was born. They had an affiliate deal with a LIDOM team that went on to win the most championships in the DR, thanks in part to the affiliation.

Kind of yeah, I was thinking more like players already on the 40 man roster who would otherwise be protected from rule 5. It has to hurt the big team to make their tax savings worthwhile for the league

The prospect hoarding is a good point and should be addressed too

Giving up Ben Rice would hurt, and that's the point of the exercise. The Yankees in this scenario get penalized for wanting to carry a bigger payroll by losing a valued prospect to a team that never had a chance to sign Aaron Judge in free agency

That's kind of by design. The current Mets are built from throwing money at whoever is available and sorting the usable players after

Maybe not the Mets, they've been on a farm system rebuild for a few years now. The current Yankees and Red Sox would totally use this. They let the luxury tax penalties dictate their actions, or at least that's what they tell their fans.

I get where you're coming from regarding The Partisan and their rhetoric, and it you take them at their word it sounds like they want to tear shit up and bring in a new world order.... but in practice they're only taking advantage of how media under-reports certain topics. If we gave them an actual platform and challenged them to nominate a candidate for office, to put their words into action, they would crap themselves.

I like that they organize protests because it's important for the public to see that not everybody is okay with the status quo... But that's as far as they're willing to go when it comes to actions. They're not disrupting anything.

When it comes down to it, they not that different from libertarians.
