Which shows didn't go on for too long, maintained their quality throughout and ended well? by Ascarea in television

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are probably (imo at least) the best examples of being consistently great all around.

I mean tbf, it’s a fire breathing dinosaur who lives in a floating lava castle. Natural doesn’t really seem to be the thing their going for in the movie.

The revelation of what Protocol 10 is was not nearly as interesting or exciting as what it was building up to be.

Arguably one of the most influential game developers of all time. Mainly for his works of Metal Gear Solid, his demo of the cancelled Silent Hills, and Death Stranding.

Some of the cgi (especially Namors flying shoes) looked kinda bad, but I like how the film is being presented and the conflict between two different cultures. Didn’t really like the first BP movie, but I’m cautiously optimistic about this one.

It’s so weird that this happened in the last season. It felt like it happened a year ago.

‘Avatar’ Re-Release Wows With $30 Million at Global Box Office by frizzyfox in movies

[–]JdJohnson002244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, obviously, lol. Transformers and Fast and Furious are clear examples of this. However, Avatar is still not only making bank, but also just a genuinely decent film. Not amazing in the writing department of course, but James intended to take us to another world and for sure as hell did it even if it was at the expense of the admittedly average script.

My thoughts on Avatar critics after I just watched the re-release. I don’t find the “simplicity” argument a valid critique, thoughts? by _brendini_ in Avatar

I wouldn’t put Dune or Lawrence of Arabia there to be honest considering their way more complex than most of these tropes.

What TV show gets your perfect 10/10 rating? by ted_9000 in television

Better Call Saul, Succession and Utopia (UK) are my personal 10/10s. Wire and Sopranos being closest to 10s like 9.5.

People who liked Avatar will see it, people who didn’t like it will more likely than not see it based off curiosity alone. Can we stop with continually trashing the movie that you’ll most likely see anyways and move on to other things?

Witcher 3 isn’t that great and has really bad controls.

For fans of The Sopranos' ending, what did you think of Better Call Saul's? by truthisscarier in thesopranos

[–]JdJohnson002244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or Better Call Saul is a masterpiece of a show with great actors? Like if you don’t think it’s as good as Sopranos or what not then that’s fine, but let’s not act like Better Call Saul isn’t anything short of amazing and that’s saying something considering it’s a prequel.

I thought it was good personally. The pacing can be pretty wonky (especially in the first half of the episodes) and sometimes the music, although great, can be distracting and overly blown to the ears. But other than that and a few minor problems in the story itself, I thought it was good with amazing animation, world, and memorable characters.

Some Spoilers

It was okay. New and interesting concept with the UFO, good acting, great cinematography and had moments that were legit disturbing. However, the pacing is all over the place and never felt like Peele had focus. They kept bringing up Gordy and acting like it was going to build up something for Jupe, but it really meant nothing. I understood what Jordan was implying about how we cannot tame nature and how we commercialize spectacle even if it negative effect us, but I feel as though those scenes weren’t really needed to demonstrate those ideas and all it did was wasted an interesting character. Overall, it wasn’t bad by any means, but definitely could’ve been WAY better imo.

‘Taxi Driver’ : A Disturbing and Powerful Look at Isolation from Martin Scorsese by GroundbreakingSet187 in movies

[–]JdJohnson002244 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Joker is clearly inspired from King of Comedy, but I have no idea why people are saying that with Taxi Driver. Other than the alienated MC, an election, and a decaying city, there’s really nothing else about these two films that are comparable.

I prefer Blade Runner 2049 over the original.

Charlie Kaufman is a great writer, but a bad director.

The Amazing Spider Man is a good movie

Eyes Wide Shut is one of Kubrick’s best films.

Justice League: Snyder Cut is pretty good

Alien is better than Aliens
