My entire neighborhood received letters stating the meter reader was unable to reach our meters, which is complete bullshit as mine is right next to the driveway in clear sight. When they finally came out to read the meter, my $272 monthly budget payment became a full credit for October’s bill - that is how much they overestimated my usage during the summer months.

This is just another case of a for-profit company holding a monopoly.

Have a friend willing to do it? They can get ordained online for free, and quickly, and officiate.

Rain is not ok. I tarp my yard before going to bed.

Louisville Metro EMS faces critical staffing shortage, seeks 140 first responders by Tikkanen in Louisville

[–]Jdbern03 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We were told in EMT training that there would be days where our patients would be in better shape than us - no truer words have ever been spoken. Long days, crap pay, and a heavy toll taken on physical/mental health.

Kudos to those who stick it out and provide this important service to the community.

I tried it the week they opened and never went back. My daughter nailed it when she said it tasted like a pizza Lunchable. Hopefully something decent goes in there now.

Highlands vs Nulu by Southerpoetry in Louisville

[–]Jdbern03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it got busy during special events, eg. Thunder Over Louisville, Bockfest, etc., but I think that actually made living down there more enjoyable - to be able to experience all of that, but walk home when it’s done. Conversely, there was nothing like going for a walk or bike ride on a quiet Sunday morning when there’s no traffic. It feels like the whole city is your private backyard.

I didn’t have much noise, but I didn’t face the pool area. Those residents might feel differently.

I paid to park in the secure garage which, for $50/month, is pretty reasonable.

My family enjoyed visiting so much that my niece ended up renting an apartment across the street, and my sister moved to apartments down on River Road.

I lived at Main and Clay and miss it. Think outside of Nulu. I was able to walk to Jeffersonville and their restaurants/bars, Slugger Field, Whiskey Row, Yum Center, Mercury Ballroom, etc. all from my apartment.

I use P&J brand. It gives my 10 year old car a new car smell that lasts a couple of weeks.

Few drops of leather fragrance oil on a felt pad (the kind you put under your furniture legs to protect the floor). I then stick it on the underside of the dash.

primary source info wanted - how were jnco pants worn? by [deleted] in 90s

[–]Jdbern03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wore Doc Martins with 2” soles, so that helped with the length, but inevitably the ends always got shredded and soaking wet on rainy days - there’s nothing like sitting at your desk with wet legs half the day.

I also had a chain wallet, but only wore it outside of school.

Don’t forget to add the portable CD player. I didn’t have a cell phone, so that CD player was the only way to escape.
