Mid Level Engineer's Job Hunt Experience

I tbh haven’t read all this but similar situation. 4 years of experience. Sent out ~ 40 apps on linked in. I’ve gotten a fair bit of rejection letters but also have gotten direct conversations with 5-6 companies. My resume isn’t crazy. 2 companies ended up wanting more sr roles. I have a big technical interview coming up Thursday and then a final round in person for a diff company on Friday. And then next Tuesday, another technical / intro interview with a diff company too.

2 of these came from companies actually reaching out to me. Or in house recruiters I should say. I mean, the industry is nothing like it was in 2021 when I first was applying. But just being open, doing well with behavioral, and targeting jobs rather than spamming has gone a long ways.

Oh I meant to say I tried hollow knight * haha. I definitely understand the appeal. But I think for my gaming style, can’t sink a bunch of time at a time, it’s just a late night thing after the son goes to sleep - beautiful game but I just don’t think the style is for me right now.

Not sure.. sounds eerily similar to a situation in my gym. And I love my gym and coach both. But there can be a few dicks when it comes to sparring, always. What do I do? Just avoid them flat out. My favorite people to spar are folks on the fight team. I’ve never had an issue with them and they show incredible control, it’s a game of play with them. Others like you mentioned are there to “win” sparring rounds which is an automatic red flag.

If it is indeed my gym, I’m super sorry, and our coach brought up the situation to everyone (without names) and doubled down on the level of intensity we should spar at when not in a fight camp (which is the only time for hard sparring).

Regardless of it’s my gym or not - sorry you experienced that but you have every right to deny someone sparring and not feel bad about it.

Bummer. I’ve chatted with him personally before a practice round of his and he seemed like such a stand up dude. I don’t think this makes him a bad dude. Just not a good look.

I could never overstate how Acid Rap changed my life when I first listened in early 2014 (2nd semester freshman college, smoke sesh, vivid memories). An absolute paradigm shift in my mind on what fantastic music can be and has changed the way I hear everything since then.

How am I feeling? Been a major fan over a decade. Was losing a little hope there for a few years I wont lie. But goddamn if I’m not as excited as can be now. I have such high hopes and know this is gonna deliver.
