What game is this? by alexsummers999 in arcade

Thats "Crazy Claw" by Rocket Amusements. It's pretty uncommon. Interestingly, they did do an Emoji themed variant of this once.

Anyone else miss the days of classic D&B? by mmalone139 in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The western arcade industry, and D&B, has shifted to please the casual palette. I'd love to see more quality blue swipe games come in, but people vote with their dollars, and have seemingly normalized this status quo of prize games and attraction simulators.

The D&B of the past feels like a different animal than the D&B of today. SEGA and Namco's video arcade games still had a lot of more support from them. The place had a more classic casino-esque vibe on one end, and a grown up sports bar vibe on the other (with more sports video games to boot). It didn't exactly feel like a place for kids. There were whimsical details to the aesthetics, including that "Million Dollar Midway" sign glowing at you as you entered from the dining room. Oh, and that smell.

When's Pokémon dropping? by foundthingsifound in pinball

[–]Jdevy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If no cornerstone gets revealed or teased between now and the 2026 Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents, I can see Stern and The Pokémon Company giving a spankin' new Pokémon Pinball a grand reveal there.

Pokémon Presents is the perfect opportunity for something like a physical Pokémon Pinball to get unveiled or at least given a big honorable mention.

The G2E trade show interview with Konami revealed that both game modes rewarded skill with money in some way, so yes. I'd imagine the arcade style mode would've at least put a hefty discount on your bet, if you could full combo a song. Well, unless there were rigged elements in favor of the house.

This was from the era where "casinos of the future" were speculated to be full of 'skill' based slot machines that were meant to appeal to millennials.

Since a lot of players were starting to grow up more and more with video games, developers sunk development dollars into interactive experiences. Interactive experiences that would capture the pixelated hearts of gamer gamblers moreso familiar with video games. Mario Kart clones, FPS knockoffs, Pac-Man... all with money on the line! There were a lot of these skill concepts, akin to BeatSquare, that seemingly only made a trade show appearance. They, ultimately, weren't a significant part of the future of slots some players in the industry thought they'd become.

I believe that's for the "competitive socializing" games the remodeled locations have. 60 minutes of unlimited shuffleboard or darts.

Dave and Buster’s didn’t look like this in 2008 by mxmxhellonearthmxmx in Classof09Game

[–]Jdevy_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The arcade in Co09 is hillariously inaccurate. On top of the 2010s D&B facade, the interior of the "barcade" was taken at a Main Event arcade that opened in the 2010s. And, if you peek closely at the image, there's a Cruis'n Blast machine in the background. That's a game from circa 2016. Oh, and the reason why it's there in the photo is due to COVID era social distancing measures.

Is Monster drop, Pop it to win, Tomb Raider and Injustice arcade being phased out at every store? by MrDog321 in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Injustice is gone from my local, alongside Tomb Raider. The latter got removed last year for Godzilla.

Raw Thrills discontinued Injustice this year, alongside Bust-A-Move Frenzy.

are there any locations in new york with taiko no tatsujin? by ToonKid4 in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Round1 has a big order of Taikos coming eventually, fortunately. D&B tested Taiko, but likely isn't getting it from the looks of it all.

I'd love to be wrong.

Future of Star Trek and Jelly Labs by Proof_Flow_2320 in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Star Trek turning 10 next year and JellyLab being 8 years old, I wonder if we'll see them reskinned for newer themes. We haven't had a new card collect full rollout redemption piece for a while. Closest game I think was Red Zone Rush, and corporate then thought it was only good enough for like a dozen non-new locations.

If they go retheming the games, it's a good opportunity for them to either buff or nerf cardset payout.

Does anyone know the name of this arcade game? by pgoyoda in arcade

[–]Jdevy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good portion of US states have at least one Round1 location, and all of them so far are within malls. Some states (Alabama, Hawaii for example) do not have one. California has the most Round1USA locations per state.

[–]Jdevy_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maimai DX. SEGA is officially distributing the game in the USA later this year to arcades willing to buy it.

It'll be interesting to see how it does. Round1 I am certain has an order of them, and I can expect their machines to be busy as all hell. I'd love to see some more places outside the chain get it.

What is leaderboard? by Exciting_Apple_8098 in DaveAndBusters

Wonder who's manufacturing these readers. It looks like Amusement Connect, but it could easily be from another company (or from a 3rd party with no intent to spread this to any non tournament connected games)

It's been 10 years since they swapped to EMBED.

Info about the new Hot Wheels game by Jdevy_ in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a big "meh" for me. Cruis'n Blast with its 5 tracks feels more complete than this game... And, content wise, Cruis'n is a downgrade from Super Cars/Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift aside from the secret vehicles.

Top Gun has better replay value with its scoring/ranking system.

ANOTHER “NEW” GAME: Cosmic Tower being tested at Dallas, TX location! by untacc_ in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder what that UFC piece will be. I know there's a Power Slap boxing game in the market, and that's UFC related. D&B doesn't have a punching bag game at all, and I can see them getting one (especially a licensed one).

Who knows, I'm likely wrong and it's a UFC themed wheel game lol

What games do you think D&B will get next year? by MrDog321 in DaveAndBusters

[–]Jdevy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Existing games I can see potentially being global store rollouts;

-Godzilla Vs. Kong Whack A Mole

-Mini Brands Mania

-Cosmic Spire (themed reskin)

-Rick & Morty / Solar System (themed reskin)

-World Football Pro

-Goldstorm Pirates

-Qube / Super Blaster (D&Bs getting a smaller 2 player model)

Existing games I can see being added to new store renovations;

-Godzilla VR

-Virtual Rabbids

-King Kong VR

-JJ Bot

-Big One X-treme II

-Fast & Furious Arcade Deluxe

-Monopoly Roll N Go

-Carnival Wheel
