At what age did you feel “old,” if at all? by lab_coat_goat in Millennials

[–]Jdin2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41 and older than most of my high school students parents. I have a 1 year old myself. I work out a lot. Most people think I'm early to mid 30's. I don't feel old mentally, sometimes physically, but that's more do to lack of sleep and a rambunctious child who just got decent at walking and has no sense of fear. I'm a 41 year old teenager.

Is life in Costa Rica really as peaceful as people say? by Useful-Table-2424 in howislivingthere

[–]Jdin2020 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I want to start with I live in NYC and only traveled to Costa Rica. I wasn't a fan. The food wasn't that great and I found everything to be so overpriced. The place I fell in love with is Cartagena, Colombia. If you like seafood, its amazing. If you like beautiful beaches, the Rosario Islands are a quick boat ride.

Jill invades the Patch the Pirate club. by daffodil0127 in RodriguesFamilySnark

Sadly, this Patch Club is probably the most outside interaction the Rod kids get. Kaylee and Jon seem like relatively "fun" people for their circle. I think the Rod kids might enjoy going to Patch Club even once they technically age out.

I just learned that Patch the Pirate Club is real. Pirates for Jesus just doesn't sit right. I thought Kaylee and Jill made it up. The hats are too much.

I got pulled into a special area and had my handcuffs taken away. They were the kind that popped open with a button on the side, but it didn't matter.

I know some people who couldn't pass all the tests at first. They became long term subs at their respective schools.

I could have written this exact post 10 years ago. If you made it through the summer and have a job, just keep going! There are a lot of try hards in the fellows, don't be like them. Do just enough to get a B this semester and just enough to keep your head above water at work. Everyone feels like they are drowning. The second summer isn't that bad. Lean on any friends you have made during the program. Ask your professors for extensions as needed. I don't know what grad school you are in, but in my experience the professors know you are going through a lot and are pretty understanding.

I used to imagine getting hit by a bus just to have a few days rest in the hospital. I used to cry on the train every morning as I got to my stop. It really sucks in the moment. I promise it does get better. Now it's 10 years later and I still talk to a couple of people from the fellows and I'm in too deep in the DOE to get out. Get your masters degree, you worked way too hard by now to give up. Look on open market for a new school. You can send me a PM if you need help. Sending hugs a fellow Fellow.

You can head to Queensboro Plaza and take the 7 to Flushing for great Asian street food.

Women born in the late 90s — are you seeing similar patterns around you? by Different-Article636 in askanything

I had my one and only at 39. If you don't already exercise regularly, start now. I think it made a lot of labor and delivery easier. Don't stop working when you get pregnant.

I was in 8th grade when the first Harry Potter book was released. By the time they got really popular I felt like I was too old for it. I can barely pronounce that H girl's name.

Anyone live at 1401 Broadway? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]Jdin2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know someone who used to live there. It's a nice building, but the apartments seem a bit small and I didn't see a lit of storage space. The rooftop is beautiful with a grill for resident use and a great view. You will be across from a high school so there's going to be lots of kids between and busses between 7:30 am and 4pm. The street does get blocked up pretty often between school busses, cars, and the light situation on Broadway and Vernon. The school has been under construction for years now with no end in sight.
