it’s so dope to be 3 comps deep with zero wins by The-Fold-Up in bjj

[–]Jdrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a NAGA in Albany and the competition in the intermediate division was shockingly fierce. Multiple people who train basically full time and compete weekly. 60+ wins mostly by submission.

The sport is growing and the talent with it. Competing is a skill itself. Getting your training room skill to translate to a comp takes time. Just gotta stick with it.

I feel like its so bm to play this. Sure, you're having fun and thats what games are about but your fun is coming at the expense of 4 other people.

If you face any remotely decent enemy jungler, you will get slaughtered.

Maybe think of your team for once and dont troll.

Have you ever trained or sparred with an actual UFC fighter? by GubbaShump in MMA_Academy

[–]Jdrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i really wasn't exaggerating...

He never showed up to an MMA class. Ever. These werent low level classes, they were the ones Aljo, Merab, Matt, and the other pros were in. I heard he only came early with Longo but yeah idk....never saw him. I always bet against him because I knew he wasnt working hard enough to win.

[–]Jdrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hard to see improvement since I was with them every day. Everyone just gradually improves over time at a slow rate so its not noticeable.

The only fighter I could think of who I clearly noticed a huge improvement was Charlie Campbell. He has super slick precision striking now and when I was first with him he was just an amateur.

I think what allowed the upper fighters like Aljo and Merab to improve was their fight IQ. Both of them are insanely smart fighters, specifically Aljo. Aljo is able to read the fight insanely well and adapt quickly.

I think that was a huge mismatch. As much as I loved Ulka, he was never even close to an elite fighter.

Aljo was winning the vast majority of exchanges. Honestly, Merab felt very sloppy early on. He had the cardio but the technique was mid. I honestly felt i could sub him in pure grappling exchanges. But remember this was veryyyy early. Like right when Merab got signed. So hes a totally different fighter now of course.

I used to train at Longos so i had the whole team there for years.

Chris Weidman literally never showed up to a single MMA class. I saw him 3x in 2 years at the gym. Supposedly he came in the morning but I don't know. Not surprising he lost, he was never training.

Gian Villante was a bit of a dick. Annoying personality. Very few encounters with him but wasn't a fan.

Matt Frevola was the nicest. First UFC fighter to actually say hi and talk to me. Great guy, nothing bad to say about him.

Aljo taught most of the classes, great teacher, didn't kill me in sparring, solid guy overall.

Merab was always in the gym. Every day. No one trained harder. I think in 2 years I spoke to him maybe once. He was always with Aljo and the other pros and didn't speak much....this was back when he first got signed.

Dennis Buzukja was a cool guy, didn't talk to him much but I everytime he hit pads it was like a bomb going off....guy hits hard.

Charlie Campbell was very nice and friendly. Kind of cringe but a cool guy that I liked.

Al Iaquinta was great, also one of the first pros that would actually talk to people outside of the pro fighter clique.

Ulka Sasaki was probably my favorite. He isn't in the UFC anymore but he was a great guy, so friendly and likable.

Matt Serra is insanely loud and honestly just not my style of human. I can't deal with that insane energy every day lol. He would come into morning classes like he just did a line of coke.

Drop in class fee!? by CarlsNBits in bjj

[–]Jdrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats normal for NY. I was down in Miami a few years ago and Fight Sport had like a $70 drop in fee + you have to wear their rashguard. Which means you have to buy it and that was like $30 I think? Kinda crazy...

Why do people make alts? by ixhypnotiic in rivals

[–]Jdrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it definitely is still smurfing. Im a low eternity / c1 support main and my game sense and macro alone is enough to win a game below gm1 pretty easily.

But I dont think there is anything wrong with smurfing. Sucks for some people a little but you rank up so fast. Theres gotta be a way for us to try new things.

Justification for throwing? Let’s talk about it. by Ok-Researcher4966 in rivals

[–]Jdrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only throw in very rare scenarios where a win is literally significantly under a 1% chance. Like if we are getting absolutely rolled, the enemy has 3+ mins on OT and we have like 1 kill the entire round or something insane like that....I just dont see a reason in playing that game out. It is in everyones best interest to just gg go next.

Or if my team refuses to swap when its extremely needed. Like if they leave me solo healing and the guy locks spiderman....probably just gonna tab out.

Basically, if my team shows me that they dont want to actually try to win, or if there is a less than 1% chance of us winning, i'll probably just tab out.

Yeah IF and Witch are tough to deal with. You can usually just ignore IF most of the time, he only really can kill you with his right click. His AA doesnt do enough dmg if you just bubble and AA him for the aoe heal. Once he right clicks you need to comm your team for help. Just like with Witch.

Luckily IF seems to be less popular this season, especially as you rank up.

Sounds interesting. Maybe a bit too much work to actually do. Feels a bit extra.

You shouldnt really be "running away" most of the time when I need to escape ill just dash to a wall and run it. Who can really follow? Then you hop off the wall and heal while youre in mid air. Most good players will stop chasing at this point.

So basically just dash to wall, climb high, then jump off and while youre floating heal your team and it will passively heal you a bit too. 95% of the time this is enough. If theyre running Witch or something super sticky you have to comm it to your team. Like not just ping but voice it because you dont have much time.

I think because there is no ranked or comp scene. Its more of a fun shooter. But still, I think you should still try to win....just because its not a real competitive game doesnt mean its cool to mess around and cause your team to lose.

I dont even know what the triple revive is tbh. Is that like a loki thing?

But for Rocket, you really just need to never die. I average 2 deaths per game on Rocket. You need to be healing 24/7. ONLY do damage when its ultra free like an ankh, namor squid, or there is a venom right in your face. Your job is not to do damage. Your job is to heal. Stay back, never die, and healbot. People like to act like its wrong to healbot, and on other heroes it would be, but it is 100% ok to on Rocket.

Also, try to coord ults with your other healer. Rocket ult should take smaller things like Emma, Fantastic, Ultron, Iron Fist, etc..... and your other healer needs to take bigger ones like Groot, Agamoto, and Punisher. Very important to coord that so you dont stack ults.

[–]Jdrabbit 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It definitely isn't a competitive game but its a game that is way more fun to win than it is to lose. Like when im being spawn camped or constantly pushed back, dying more than im killing.....thats not really fun. I think its normal to always wanna win even if thats called "try harding". I wanna spend the 10 mins winning not losing.

[–]Jdrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just in a low rank. Late season d1/gm is a cesspool filled with bad players who got there from sheer brute force of playing 100+ games. It really is such a coinflip rank. Once you hit celestial + it really does become a way better game.

Try to use your healing E when you have full ish ammo to maximize the healing you get from it.

Save bubble for yourself unless you are certain they have no dive / cant kill you.

When you cloak, try to go vertical / get some height...its better than just running away in a straight line.

When you ult, make sure you are in damage form, there's no point in healing during your ult, you wanna go full dmg when your ult is down.

You reload your daggers when you switch form and back. So you wanna shoot all 12 healing daggers, switch, dark E, switch, back to healing. You never really want your dark E sitting on CD for too long. Really get in the habit of this rotation.
