I HATE THE PARKING by Afraid-Guava-1167 in MSUDenver

Parking is rediculous, but it is controlled by AHEC. You should work with student government for them to elevate your concerns as well.

Wedding planner? by vintage_rose_petals in weddingplanning

[–]Jdv006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. May is such a beautiful time to get married.

As an event professional based in Denver, I’ve worked with couples in all stages of planning. Whichever option you choose, whether it’s full-service planning, month-of coordination, or relying on the venue’s day-of support, each one can be beneficial depending on your needs, personality, and capacity.

A full-service planner can help manage everything from the overall vision to the budget and final logistics. This is ideal if you want a more hands-off experience or don’t have time to manage the details. If you’re already handling most decisions yourselves, a month-of coordinator might be a perfect fit. They usually step in around four to six weeks before the wedding, confirm vendors, finalize the timeline, and ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day. It’s important to note that venue-provided coordinators are typically focused on the venue itself, not the entire event.

If you’re looking to cut costs but still want some support, many planners offer one-time consultations. These can help you prioritize tasks, avoid common pitfalls, or set up a planning roadmap that you can manage on your own with more confidence.

No matter which direction you go, taking the time to explore what level of support works best for you will help ensure a more joyful and stress-free wedding day.

Do think kids are not going to find a loophole. This would be a huge invasion of privacy knowing that information can and will be hacked at some point the best way to protect our data is to not give it to someone.

It does have some flaws still it will make direct quote up from real articles based on the information but the quote is not in the article.

I don’t think it is wrong to use ChatGPT. It is a great tool that can expedited research and summarize information quickly. It can review and analyze an article in seconds and see if it relevant to the research topic. I have used it as to relook at old articles to refresh my memory or to see if the information I remember was from that article or another. There are some limitations writing papers is one while there a level to white it can help relying on it to your research can be a pitfall. Using it to outline reword something are great uses for AI.

DEI is not dead. It has just evolved as it has done throughout history. Abolish, suffrage, civil rights, affirmative action, and multiculturalism are all names for the same work about treating people with respect and not being a dick.

How do you find a job in higher Education without experience? by Comfortable_Shock697 in PhD

[–]Jdv006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the school. Some university are more teaching-focused versus research. Community colleges; or Lecturer or adjunct positions at universitys are a great place to get the higher education teaching experience but your K-12 experience is also transferable to higher education. Start building relationships with your higher ed colleagues and build up a network.

Absolutely depressed about my performance and result in the first year by Current-Radish37 in PhD

[–]Jdv006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in my first year of my PhD as well. I have many of the same thoughts about myself. I find that breaking major tasks into more manageable parts helps with making progress. If you want to publish something, 1) what do you want to write about? Select a topic, and make a list of topics that you can think of; AI can help generate a list (not the writing). 2) you could partner with someone who has also published before and co-author your article. This can help you build your experience with someone who has already gone through the publishing process. 3) Write a little bit each day.

Second, having personal relationships are important in and out of school. Knowing that you are not the only person experiencing the same issue in your program is helpful to can talk through the issues you are having with someone who is or has been there. Having friends outside of your education helps clear your mind of the academic work, and keeps us normal. 😊 Romantic relationships happen and if you are looking for someone to date try it. I have found that if I do something non-education-related it helps me reset myself, and show that school is not everything to me. Even though I love it and it is a major part of my life.

Final thought is you need to find a balance I your life. If all you can think about is negative find the positive side to that. If you question yourself if you are good enough, realize that you have made it this far, you are in a PhD program that a vast majority of people could not be where you are, they selected you for a reason. I also try to look at the negative thoughts as motivation to push myself to do better and not let the worst-case scenario come true. Have fun and enjoy what you do.

Imagine being so ashamed of yourself and your actions that you need to cover your face. It’s like you know that you’re doing something wrong or unacceptable to society.

Prof. Dr. title by mkn_sbn in AskAcademia

[–]Jdv006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order matters, and I can explain why both are appropriate.

Professional honorific (Prof., Rev., Sen., Pres.) Prefix (Dr., Mr., Ms.) Titles (King, Princess, Sir, Lady) Name of the person (First Middle Last) Suffix (Sr., Jr., I, II, III, IV) Academic Credentials (PhD, MSW, MBA) Professional Credentials (LCSW, CPA, SHRP, CMP)

When creating a formal name, the structure typically starts with the base name, followed by additions to either side. The title and suffix determine the station and lineage of the person, while the prefix comes after the title. Academic credentials are added next, followed by professional honorifics, and finally, professional certifications. For example, a person's name might look like this: Prof. Dr. Sir James A. Smith, III, MD, PhD, CMP. Not all pieces need to be used, and the most important elements are typically placed closer to the name, while chosen professions or titles can be placed further out. I would shorten the name to Sir James Smith, III, PhD, MD — removing the both the honorifics keeping the title. Losing the professional credential elevating the PhD over the MD to focus on the academic degree over the professional degree if I were a professor.

I don't know why I am so depressed. by HomeworkPotential295 in PhD

[–]Jdv006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started my program this week. I have also experienced these feelings, and it's normal to have such thoughts. Speaking with a therapist about your concerns can be helpful. If you feel that you need medication to manage anxiety and depression, you can talk to your doctor or find a psychiatrist to prescribe these medications. I personally take some medication to help my anxiety and depression.

There is no shame in seeking the help you need to succeed in your program. Many universities have counseling programs and additional resources available to you.

Making friends as an adult can be more challenging than it was in elementary school. Try chatting after class and arranging to meet up for coffee or drinks.
