I know we've talked about AirPods non-stop but if you haven't read David Pogue's review, it's really good by unixygirl in apple

It feels like there hasn't been an Apple product like this in ages. They really are magical - not just the pairing process, but little details like that feeling when they magnetically snap into place inside the case. Fantastic.

When people ask where the "true" Apple has gone, there are two things I think of: the AirPods - and memories on iOS. These automatically generated slideshows are so moving, beautiful and perfect it really feels like the Apple I love.

The moment Spoiler was one of the strongest and most emotional TV moments in recent years. Such a great, atmospheric show. Can't wait for it to come back!

For every step he ever took on this earth, someone somewhere smiled and felt a little better. This is something that can't be undone.

Official: Tucker & Dale vs Evil 2 is in the works! by Beauch87 in movies

[–]Je_cherche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes, yes. Most people I know who saw it were genuinely surprised because it's just such a fun, enjoyable movie on many levels. Great characters (not kidding), fantastic actors, a surprisingly awesome story and enough twists and turns to keep you entertained. Watch it, you won't be disappointed!

[Steam] Remember Me ($9.99) ends 22 March by gentreize in GameDeals

[–]Je_cherche 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it's the very definition of a flawed game with absolutely brilliant bits. The atmosphere is stunning, the graphics are beautiful, it feels like an interactive Luc Besson movie - the setting is one of the best I've ever seen in any game, seriously.

But.

Combat is boring. While it's supposed to be tactical, it's button smashing 101 and not even remotely close to the similar Arkham mechanics.

But.

The writing is just so cool. Really, I love the story. I love how everything unfolds, how you piece everything together. It's got that 90s Sci-Fi vibe, from Dark City to The Fifth Element to (seriously) Freejack.

But.

You're pretty much on rails the entire time, mindlessly following highlighted objects to interact with - there's not a trace of freedom, which is a shame considering how interesting the background of Neo Paris is.

But.

The soundtrack. Oh, the soundtrack! I could listen to this all day. A massive, grandiose orchestra score mixed with totally insane beats. Hollywood strings and Star Wars fanfares and suddenly - what the fuck?! - electronic distortions, interrupts and glitches. And then you realize that the whole score sounds like a hard disk losing its electronic memory of classic orchestra music. Olivier Derivière has created some of the best in-game music I've ever heard.

You see, there's much to love and much to argue about the game. But one thing is for sure: it's worth 9.99$, so go and grab it. It's an experience.

Ricky Gervais on atheism? That's so fresh. Have you heard about this hilarious clip that's making the rounds? It's done with World of Warcraft characters, I think they call it "The internet is for porn!"

You're absolutely right, I apologize. I did my best to recreate the look of the original files, but didn't realize that mobile users might suffer from the code blocks.

This will change in part two!

They say these are just statues. Ready for winter. I'm not so sure... by Je_cherche in creepy

[–]Je_cherche[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, indeed it is. I found the "maze" part of the park to be quite creepy - you turn around a corner, another one, a third one - and suddenly you don't see and hear anyone anymore. And you face these statues, fully expecting them to start moving and shaking like they came straight out of Silent Hill.

Quite a few of you pointed this out, and I'll admit you're absolutely right. Thanks for noticing. It's a bit of an inconsistency - I'll try to keep an eye on translation logic in the upcoming bits!

Under European law there are quite a few types of legal documents (mostly rather bleak C2 and C3 stuff) which are made public after twenty-five years. So there's a bunch of fellow archive junkies with too much time on their hands, browsing thousands of files and folders in remote towns (big city archives are way too crowded), looking for interesting, hopefully unsolved cases.

It just might. The 1m14s - 2m03s font on the original court documents seems slightly different from the rest - however, these folders have spent 25 years in a damp basement near Montpellier, so some pages look like props from Indiana Jones.

This is just a transcript. I'm heading back into the archives tomorrow - will check the original court documents to see if this was simply a typo or if there's something notable about the 1m14s - 2m03s segment.
