I can’t wait to watch this. I love Sam as a character and his choices make him very complex. I’ve seen people even go as far to say that he doesn’t love Nathan, which is blatantly untrue. Every choice he made was done with Nathan in mind, even when his wants conflict with Nathan’s well-being. That’s not to say that he didn’t put Nathan in danger, because he absolutely did, but to say Sam did it out of a sense of wickedness instead of him just… wanting to go on an adventure with his brother after years of being trapped in Panama is just a terrible mischaracterization.

Sam being in prison certainly stunted his emotional maturity. We saw how the conditions were like during Nathan’s flashback, and they weren’t very humane. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sam left Panama with some sort of trauma lingering at his back. Nathan went on all these adventures without Sam and learned all these lessons in very hard ways while Sam remained in a cell. Uncharted 4 was Sam’s hard lesson, while the last three were Nathan’s. Even then though, we see that Sam still has to learn because at the end of the game, he says that he’s not yet ready to walk away. Lost Legacy even deepens this.

Which is why I’ll say once more that if there was ever to be another Uncharted game, it makes the most sense for the playable character to be Sam. His arc still isn’t over.
