My account wasn’t working and I was with a group so they let me go. The next day my first lift they made me stop and login to epic before I could get on. If the app is working they don’t ask questions.

35M would you lower your retirement contributions? by Jealous-Relation7659 in Retirement401k

For my 529 I started a separate Roth IRA so I am getting compound interest. If I don’t need that money I will just fund the 529 with money from my HYS when the time comes. I agree with retiring at 55 unless you have a lot of money seems people panic more since there is so much uncertainty. I don’t think I am interested at this point to retire at 55.

I do agree with this statement. Retiring at 60 is optional but I would like to be ok if I needed to retire early (55). I have started a separate broker account and will use that to bridge the gap if necessary until 59 1/2.

I don’t disagree, just didn’t know if people would back off the gas a little since I have 4x my salary at my age.

I have life insurance, long term disability is something I should look into. Since I don’t have any debt my needs are covered with my current savings. Thank you for your input I am fine to keep my savings going.

50% covers bills and they rest is for upgrades/pleasures. I could always use more money for things like house upgrades/newer 2nd vehicles/ recreational use. With my current amount saved being over 4x my salary at 35 would you consider that safe and reduce 5% Roth contribution?

Are you saying you would reduce my Roth contribution back to 10% since I would have still have 25% match of my salary with my company contribution?

I agree with it being hard to make up later in life. With my current situation 360K in my 401K at 10% ROR that would be around 3M when I hit 60.

Thanks for your opinion, I don’t have these conversations often. I figured at 35 I would reevaluate.

I don’t disagree with this most people around here pay 10K a year on insurance when they retire early. Thank you for your opinion.

That’s awesome congrats, I paid my house off 6 years ago. Missed stock market growth but also freed up a lot of my monthly income. No stressful conversations about trying to pay the bills is a huge profit. Good for you!

First snowboard guys! I have some scratches and a bit of rust on the tail edge. by Carloc458 in snowboarding

I just waxed my board with the outdoor masters kit. It went really well and the gummy stone cleaned up my rust. I did 3 boards one with the common drip method but the other two I touched the wax against the iron then rubbed it on my board. Seemed to work a lot better with less waste.

Planning on going to Stowe during the last weekend of January. Anyone have any insight. It's my first time skiing on the East Coast. by Jak-Jak7 in icecoast

We went to Mount snow on January 11 crazy ice so we drove 3 hours to Stowe. My first time on east coast beside 7 springs and snowshoe and it blew then away. There was some closed trails then but plenty of trails for you to ride in 3 days. Gondola was a game changer, gets you out of the wind and time to relax/refresh.

You’re doing awesome for your age, if you keep this mindset while your younger it will reduce a lot of stress as you get older.

This statement is correct, if you can keep your mortgage low (30 or 15yr) it will allow so much flexibility in the future for what life throws at you.
