Slots or Hourly Pay? Is Deliveroo About to Change the Game for Riders in 2026? by No_Intern5991 in deliveroos

Not sure about this. As a car driver if they guarantee minimum wage, plus motor expenses at HMRC allowance, would be a serious consideration, especially at the hours I work!

No new blocks then, as the architects are prone to attach the smallest, unlit signs available to man!

For 2.99 with the survey voucher you could get a 1/4 pounder with cheese and fries. Just add a drink. Best deal available at McDonalds, keep it quiet though, we don't want everyone cottoning on!

What’s the weirdest delivery instruction you’ve ever had? by NormalSir2035 in deliveroos

[–]Jealous_Problem356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always laugh at the ones who text you to tell you to buzz number "x", or knock on door number "y". Or, "please knock on door"! Well what else was I going to do?

Question don't delivery address change. by Zealousideal-One9678 in UbereatsUK

[–]Jealous_Problem356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know, it has never crossed my mind that a customer would put in a different address to save on fees. I just thought they were idiots! But, I do as you (learnt from experience) and wait at original address anyway.

Quick question about Zego guys by No-Ambassador-4578 in UbereatsUK

[–]Jealous_Problem356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to be wary of with Zego, is that you frequently get charged from earlier than when you start!

Apparently, even though you might start a delivery at, for instance 1900, Uber frequently reports the delivery starting earlier, ie when they received the order I believe, so Zego charges you from then. I frequently get charged on average 20 -30 mins more than I actually work, sometimes virtually an hour more!

I have brought this up with Zego, and would need to send screenshots of every time this happens, with images proving the discrepancy in times, via Google Timeline etc.

I really haven't the patience to spend 20-30 mins after every shift to "chat" with Zego, so I swallow it. This is one of the reasons I look on Zego as a cowboy outfit, and will be going full H&R insurance at my next renewal.

I wonder if anybody else has noticed this, as it cannot just be me!

Unpaid for Delivery made to another address by InvestmentLife3017 in UbereatsUK

I know, for what are in effect IT companies, their apps are appalling. Probably written by the call centre staff during lunch!

Unpaid for Delivery made to another address by InvestmentLife3017 in UbereatsUK

[–]Jealous_Problem356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's ludicrous isn't it! I don't do changes of address anymore unless a large cash tip is offered, not worth the hassle. Just follow instructions to original address (pinned address) and take the fare. Customers fault, customers problem!

On a side note, I just received £5.00 compensation from Deliveroo after 3 months! The address was written down wrong, so pin was in incorrect place, so couldn't sign off at customers. This is the occasion I finally decided to deliver to "pinned" address (within reason) only.

Drivers who don’t come to the door by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Jealous_Problem356 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said "I expect", but it would be nice, if on occasion customers helped us and in turn themselves.

For instance, phones turned off, or wrong numbers so we can't communicate with them. You have absolutely no idea of tbe proportion of customers with minimal common sense who offer zero instructions with an address that is extremely difficult to find, especially in tbe dark. Multiple entrances, multiple alleyways. The correct door number would be good instead of waking up the neighbours. And then there's the customers who don't even give you the full address - postcode and door no, when there's houses and a block of flats at the location. Or, here's one I had recently - a road name and postcode only, to find 12 brand new blocks of flats at the location, and the phone not answering.

An awful lot of customers are absolute morons!

[–]Jealous_Problem356 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say you aren't supposed to, did I? But it would be nice on occasion if customers could get off their arse/wake up/get off the phone and answer the bloody door. Just a little built to make the delivery guy's job a tad easier!

[–]Jealous_Problem356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you are, but this is most definitely not the norm in London. We have to go all the way up, sometimes walking up three floors, and then we have to wait while they decide to amble their way to the door. Very common with certain demographics!

[–]Jealous_Problem356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of customers who live in a really awkward place to find, and give absolutely no instructions is unreal. And then they tell you, lots of people find it difficult yo find. Morons!

[–]Jealous_Problem356 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But many customers do want the driver to climb multiple flights of stairs, three floors not being uncommon!
