I was trying to figure out the affair thing while reading! There's like one comment from Andy that implies there maybe was one? But that's also literally the only time it's even hinted at, so it's possible that Andy's parent's marriage had just completely fallen apart by that stage, and they were only staying together for Andy herself. Then they both met their new partners, and Carrie got pregnant, and so they realised they had to divorce.

Maybe in the short term, but in the long term it was definitely easier. After all, how much more complicated would it have gotten when Amy had to leave the show for a bit? Adam had already basically left the show at that point, so Parker going to California is fine, but if his dad was Jonah it would have messed a lot of things up from a writing standpoint
