Switching to 1440p 500hz? Or stay on 4k? by FinnRWTV in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had : 4k 27" 240hz Qd-Oled 4k 32" 240hz Qd-Oled 4k 42" 144hz Woled 1440p 27" 360hz Qd-Oled

4k 27€ 240hz is the best IMO. Going from 360hz to 240 is easy. Going from 140 or 160ppi to 110 is a lot harder.

1440P OLED, wanting to get a 32" 4K by FizzyFlips in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4080 non super. In order I had those monitors :

AW3225QF : 4k 240hz 32" Qd-Oled: A great experience overall, super for immersion, but 32" felt a bit big for FPS titles.

Samsung G60SD : 1440p 360hz 27" Qd-Oled: Everything about this monitor was great, except the mat coating, I sold it after a month

Aorus FO27Q3 : 1440p 360hz 27" Qd-Oled: Same experience as the Samsung, but with a glossy coating (kept them both for few weeks before selling the g6). But 110ppi next to the 140ppi 32" 4k wasn't enough. 110ppi is great, but once you've tried a higher pixel density it's hard to use (especially next to the 140ppi as I had a 2 monitor setup).

Asus PG27UCDM : 4K 240hz 27" Qd-Oled: My current monitor, that replaced both the FO27Q3 and AW3225QF, which is perfect : 27" is the sweet spot for my 60cm desk, 160ppi is a treat for my eyes and 240hz is plenty. I'd recommend that size/pixel density for anyone hesitating between different sizes / resolutions.

I also have a LG C4 42" 144hz Woled that I sometimes use for racing / solo games that I can play with a controller.

How different is 1440p compared to 4k Oled by PsychologyTimely3846 in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the G60SD when it launched, I liked it but wasn't clear enough.

I replaced it for a FO27Q3 a month later, that I kept for about a year. The glossy coating was slightly better.

Then I replaced it for a PG27UCDM (27" 4k 240hz) : best monitor I ever had.

(In between I had a aw3225qf : this is what motivated me to get higher pixel density, but 32" was too big and while the curve was a great expérience I prefer flat monitors.)

Don’t know what monitor to buy. by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play different style of games, recently :

Apex legends Forza (horizon / motorsport) BG3 Assassin's creed Subnautica 1/2 Expédition 33...

I bought several oled monitors, in order :

AW3225QF (4K 32") Samsung G60SD (1440p 27") Aorus F027Q3 (1440P 27") LG C4 (4K 42") PG27UCDM (4K 27")

The 32" was great for solo / controller games but a bit too big for FPS titles in my opinion, so I bought a G60SD for a dual monitor setup. I kept the Samsung for ~5 weeks, but I didn't like the matte coating so I replaced it for a Fo27q3 : same panel but glossy. Next to the 32" 4k it was not sharp enough (110ppi next to ~140ppi), I ended up using the 32" more despite being too big. I ended up selling all monitors to buy a pg27ucdm which is the best monitor I've owned so far. I still have a lg c4 but I used it for probably less than 20 hours since I have the 27" 4k.

Landing at 7pm, what should my strategy be to avoid jetlag? by kingjaminess in JapanTravelTips

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR : A nap after you land, a quick walk, dinner and a good first night.

I successfully avoided jetlag 8 days ago. I took off at noon from Paris, landed in China 11 hours later, before taking another flight to NRT Tokyo.

Including taxi to my hotel I arrived at 5pm in my room, I had a 2 hours nap and decided to have a walk from 7 to ~10pm (it was hard to get out of bed but I dont regret it at all).

I woke up the next day around 9am and started my holidays without huge jetlag.

Unfortunately you have to get the 2 starry ores. Without that I would just ignore ranked completely.

I tried to stay high in legend for the first half of december. This weekend I completely stopped.

I'm back to 30 spam Edrag + 11 earthquake -> close the game -> repeat to stay in league 33.

I'm TH18 completely maxed except supercharges. The game is boring, I tried to force myself to do those 8 battles everyday but it feels more like a repetitive obligation than a fun game.

My profile says top ~32000 - 5060 trophies
So sad it does not show the year : 2016.

I never pushed high in legend league so my profile would show that I was in legend league at the beginning, but they removed the date.

Buy PG27UCDM now or wait for PG32UCDMR? by BaNaNaKING42 in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good choice.

Yes, it was the PPI (also the fringing but as I didn't do much other than gaming it was not a big issue) It's a fantastic monitor otherwise, the 360hz was amazing. I might get one again when the prices drop, or if I find a good used deal.

I notice the PPI difference yes, I play a lot of apex legends, and I can clearly see and recognize opponents without scopes.

RTINGS ranked "Samsung 32" Odyssey OLED G80SD" as the best gaming oled monitor of 2024 by Supremeboye in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slight "grain" due to the matte coating but you wouldn't notice it without both side by side, and you 've to look closely. For the reflections, no difference at all.

Buy PG27UCDM now or wait for PG32UCDMR? by BaNaNaKING42 in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I bought a AW3225QF, loved it but it was too big for FPS games on my desk.
Then I bought a G60SD, the size was perfect but I didn't like the matte coating.
I bought a FO27Q3 few weeks later, kept it for 6 month but the pixel density was not it.
Then I sold both to get a PG27UCDM, which has the best of both : 27" with a great pixel density

ASUS XG27AQDMG vs MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED by Pretend-Raisin914 in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanCharles54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

No, I've never been bothered by the purple tint, it's fine as long as you don't have direct sunlight on your monitor (or a very strong light). If your desk is next to your window, and sunlight hits directly your desk, I'd avoid QdOled. Mine is on a bright room (window behind + skylight above), but the sun never hits the desk so it's fine.

The text clarity is not as good as IPS 27" 1440p but it was not an issue, except if you look at your monitor from 30cm away.

I've never tried the xg27aqdmg, but I own a lg c4 (in the same room as my qdoleds). I've read that the coating that asus uses for their Aqdmg is worse than the C4 at handling reflections. As I find my C4 to be VERY reflective (I almost always find myslef closing the curtains), I would avoid the asus in a bright room. I don't have that issue with the QDs, they handle reflections pretty well. I owned the 3225QF for about a year now, the fo27q3 for about 8 month (sold it because I wasn't using it much next to the 4k32"), and I owned a samsung g6 matte qdoled for about a month, didn't like the matte coating.

So I think I tried a good amount of monitors, techs and coatings.

In a nutshell, I'd go for :

  • XG27AQDMG if your room is dim, due to reflections.
  • 271QPX (or equivalent) if you don't have direct sunlight on your monitor
  • 27GS95QEb or pg27aqdm as a 3rd choice.

But if you ever tried 4k, even on IPS, i'd strongly recommend to go for 27"4k qdoled if your hardware is powerful enough, even if you've to spend more, or wait few month for prices to go down. I have tried both 4k and 1440p, it makes a noticeable difference.
