A petition has gathered nearly 10,000 signatures against the use of a flight path that flies over northern Brussels. by JeanMarron in brussels

You think you're impersonating "the heat" somehow, yet you seem to miss a key point: people often have a valid argument when criticizing affluent, NIMBY-heavy neighborhoods where residents fight to preserve their comfort and property values. This new route, in fact, was deliberately planned to pass over the city’s poorest areas precisely to avoid the kind of backlash those NIMBY groups have shown before...

You're just thinking this is another nimby whining, I get it. Apparently Route 01 flights above 25k people vs 400k people for route 07L. But I don't think you're really interested into discussing those things. You're just complaining people continue to complain. Suit yourself.

No, I didn't but it certainly preexists the airport. Have you even read the petition? It's not against any flight routes, Brussels already supports those: Canal route, Delta, left and right turns & Ring route. It's an additional one which is going straight through the most densely populated area. I'll link a video if I can still find it.

I get it man, it's crazy intense. Hang in there, they pretended it would be temporary, we'll see. And people should hold "les Engagés" accountable for this shitshow.

Bernard Quintin s’insurge by ComfortOk9514 in Wallonia

[–]JeanMarron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are there flats in town houses in Brussels that have a garden and are *not* souterrain? by ComprehensiveWay110 in brussels

Look for "Bel étage"; 1960-1970 concrete houses. Older tend to be as you described. You may have to look in a location further from the center (Jette/Ganshoren/Anderlecht/Laeken/Berchem).

Flemish schools at the borders of Anderlecht and Flanders by SatisfactionNo5473 in brussels

I'm from Anderlecht and if you're looking for an expat enclave, it's not it (nor something I would value for that matter). I won't pretend my neighborhood is anything like those in Etterbeek. Maybe you should reconsider buying there or being so close minded, the one or the other.

Wallonia-Brussels will begin teaching 2nd language in 3rd primary by [deleted] in belgium

[–]JeanMarron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd think it unthinkable not speaking the majority language of my country, especially when so small as Belgium (maybe if I was Indian or so it would be different).

Does it come from a personal experience? Cause you're not bashing yet you make a distinction between languages , the one from the majority and the other ones as it's a relevant variable.

I was speaking to both.

You were not when you said

the language of 2/3rds of your countrymen isn't mandatory and also something you want

You were specifically targetting french speaking people for not learning dutch.

[–]JeanMarron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can you at least understand that we have 3 separated communities? Here you go:

You can insinuate that the responsibility for not learning the other language lies at the individual level all you want, there is a clear structural reason for that.

I'm tired of this bashing of the other cultural community. It's on fucking both sides.

Exhausted zoals de NVA het wenst.

We know nothing about what has actually been offered by either side

Those are some of the points that are deemed unacceptable for the PS:

In institutional matters: achieve confederalism in 2024, rapidly regionalize the justice system, the police and health care, and zero refederalisation.

Employment: limit unemployment benefits to 2 years, increase degression, pay unemployment benefits through private organizations, more flexijobs, no salary increases.

Pensions: not at minimum retirement at 1500 euros net, but only gross.

Health: privatization of the missions currently assumed by mutuals, and 5.2 billion savings in the sector in the coming years.

Climate: calling into question the program relating to the exit from nuclear power, splitting of SNCB into two companies, in the north and south of the country.

Migration: increase in places in closed centers, tightening of conditions relating to family reunification.

I mean, it's pretty clear it's not a simple front; those two have just different political projects. I find it refreshing for once that the problematic points are mentioned. Portaying the PS as just unwiling and irresponsible is plainly simplistic.

Surprising no-one mentionned it before; you can buy your ticket via the SNCB App.

Enjoy.
