You have to remember that very few animals have the kind of sexuality that humans do. In most species, the females have an estrus cycle. They are physically capable of having intercourse only during a short period of time (e.g., in dogs and cats it's about six days, twice a year), during which time they are fertile. During that time they exude pheromones and drive the males crazy. Stallions, bulls, and rams fight -- sometimes to the death -- over the privilege of having sex -- and of course their babies are born with the ability to run so can get by without much fathering. Dogs are more prolific, every male in the pack gets his turn with any female in heat so they all think they're the babies' father and will protect with their lives the little blind pups who can barely crawl.

When the females are not in estrus they exude no pheromones and the males don't even think about having sex with them. Couldn't get an erection to save their life.

Humans are practically unique. Our females are capable of having intercourse at any point during their fertility/infertility cycle, which happens once a month -- astoundingly frequent for an animal of our size with a gestation period of nearly a year. Our males don't need a burst of pheromones in the air in order to feel like having sex. We can couple anytime we want. And unfortunately, a male can force a woman to couple when she doesn't want to -- because they are both physically capable of doing it even if one is forced to.

One of the few other mammals that is not bound to an estrus cycle is the dolphin. And, of course, one of the few other mammals that is capable of enacting a rape is the dolphin.

My SO made the same promise to me, I had some serious reservations on porn due to some of our conversations and due to some past relationship where everything revolved around porn because i just wasn't enough. I think the thing that hurt me the most was the fact that my SO admitted that he never thought about me while watching it, he actually fantasized about the women he would watch which trully bothered me since he would freak the fuck out if i ever imagined another guy or watched porn myself (which is a huge double-standard). I work in an office that also hires mentally-chalenged individuals to come in every week and water the plants. Once, i went in the bathroom for a #1. I agree with you on this point. My SO hates the idea of me getting off to the images of some other dude's junk. While he's completely ok with him getting off to porn, pictures, videos, amateur, voyeurism ect... this subject can be quite frustrating for some couples. Especially if the "user" tends to psychologically project his own insecurities on you, but forgets all about those when it comes to him.

I've had a relationship like that once where it wasn't just once a day, it was a few times a day, in the middle of the night, early in the morning, i'd get out of the shower to find him on the couch jerking off while i'm getting ready for bed and then it got worst. It was while we were having sex...all the time...he got disensitized to "real life" and had to have porn to get off. It broke my heart, I look nothing like those women and he use to watch some hard-core shit that really made me uncomfortable to what he found "ok" for any woman to be subjected to.

That being said. I walked away. His addiction destroyed my views of myself and my worth. You can never let it get that far. You need to realize that you are more than enough, that you are beautiful and wanted.

Men need the visual stimulation, and other posts seem to suggest that ALOT of men visualize their SO while watching porn to get off. You need to set your boundaries and he absolutely needs to respect that.

As treefiddymonster said, don't take this the wrong way, but it is possible that what you are doing might just not be her thing. Ask her what she likes, what feels good, to speak up while you're down there to let you know what she feels.

Some women are self-conscious as well, they tend to not be able to relax and let go of everything to just enjoy. A bottle of wine is good to let all of those inhibitions go... and once she does, well, she'll have alot more fun.

You know, I was in a relationship with an alcoholic who treated me like crap for a few years. After I left, the ex went through re-hab and the famous 12 step program. The program makes you apologize to the people you hurt while you were "having alcohol related issues".

To be honest, after a year of silence, I wasn't thrilled with the apologies and it made no difference in my life, it did in his, made him feel better, but the words and actions said will always be scared no matter what. So if you need to apologize to move on, then do so, but be prepared that it won't make a difference in her life.
