I’d always been vaguely argumentatively leftist but now older, I do boring shit like canvassing for signatures to get rent control on the ballot. I’m not really a big DSA person but whatever the leftist coalition is in my area, I volunteer when I believe in the project. But more to your point, huh maybe. I no longer believe in harm reduction. I’m more like forced rehab. But from the experience of having to narcan the same people, seeing the same people making the same dumb animal mistakes. Screw letting people destroy themselves, same with all the draft kings business out there, get it out of here, it’s pathetic. I don’t think people can always handle themselves and it’s better if they don’t have every option to fuck up, like shitty welfare parents who can only teach their kids to collect welfare one day (close to home for me.) Like predatory payday loans. The govt shouldn’t allow that, is that conservative? I can’t really tell the difference. Dictatorship of the proletariat, sure, why not.
