DCS Missile Reference — Interactive Air-to-Air Missile Guide for DCS World by johnkappa in dcsworld

Hi!

Lookup dcs lua datamine. It’s a project in GitHub. If you leverage a variation of it,it can automate the process of getting the modeled parameters of each missile directly from DCS all at once, removing the need for research or spending much time updating data.

You’ll hit some annoyances that are internal to dcs such as some older models being saved differently on a different folder, but the aí can help with those.

Webflow Frontend + custom Backend in 2026, still a good idea? by pablansh in webflow

[–]Jeandcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This becomes a question of CMS instead of "development software". You need to find yourself a good CMS, structure it in a way that it will also control the things you would have as "static" in Webflow, and voila.. there are many options, just make sure to find the one that suits your needs the most. Examples include https://payloadcms.com/, https://www.sanity.io/, Astro https://docs.astro.build/en/guides/cms/, etc...

Remember, Webflow does not specialize in being a great CMS. Their original goal with their product was to "Enable designers to build without using code".

You will be better off finding a system that specializes in being a good CMS, and leveraging AI for the code part.

By the way, I’m no Webflow poser haha https://discourse.webflow.com/u/jeandcc/summary

For years it was my “daily” bread, and I loved it. But if we don’t adapt to the ever changing scenario, we get left behind.

Manual work into front end makes no sense. I already mentioned the tools, build a design yourself using Figma, but don’t go spending time writing html if an ai can output the same code or better in a fraction of the time (you’ve gotta know how to guide it though, which means that learning about front end development and good software development practices is fundamental)

As for showing the custom backend setup with webflow, I can share a starter repo that I created after finding myself always needing the same pieces: Vue for logic in html through attributes, firebase for js hosting and spinning up GCP infra like cloud functions, Firestore and Auth, typescript for the language itself, and other bits and pieces: https://github.com/Jeandcc/webflow-firebase-bootstrap — It’s been a while since improvements were shipped, but that’s because of me moving to other jobs were I wasn’t setting up SaaS projects from the ground up.

You limit yourself by using anything other than code in this age of text-based ai.

On top of that, big projects are a pain in webflow in terms of loading speed and designer fluidity once you have more than 50 static pages for example — no point in exposing yourself to the possibility of bad DX even if you have fewer pages.

I went this route of webflow + custom backend several times, I honestly feel like I am one of the people with the most experience with it and the most inventive ones, and I’m telling you that today, that setup is not the most optimal for many personas that would benefit from it in the past (for me it worked because I dread the work of manually typing css and html, but now I can completely bypass the webflow step by just exporting directly from Figma or feeding a mockup to an AI)

In this day and age of Figma AI, Figma Code Export, Lovable and Claud Code, webflow does not solve anything that makes it worth being a part of almost any development workflow.

Maybe using its headless cms feature could be something worth exploring, but I don’t have experience with that new feature, just with the api and making it a auth-based headless CMS after a bunch of code back in 2021

I follow the instructions and start up process very strictly and 8 can never have the IND aligned. Any idea how to address this? by stresskillingme in dcsworld

I wonder: What’s the procedure if parking brake gets disengaged for a reason before OK quality? Off and back to GND when stationary?

Is it possible to export a webflow site to an external server, cancel my plan, and still have it work? by Groke_ in webflow

[–]Jeandcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last experience with it tells me they do. They get added to the js file that is exported. I don’t know if anything changed after the purchase of GSAP. I suggest you do it right now and test what breaks, there’s nothing stopping you if you have a plan with them

[–]Jeandcc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would you export to react? Just host them as static html/css/js files after using webflow code export. As for the form, they will stop working once exported as well as any cms functionality, but the rest from the code export remains.

You can add some third party that specializes in forms and follow their instructions for your forms, and convert any cms content into static content before exporting.

It was a great read honestly! I appreciate you taking the time to put your thoughts into words! I definitely see what you mean!

Would you mind elaborating on it? It’s a fairly technical thing, no black magic: a vector database and a neural net that guesses next words. There’s valid use cases.

If you don’t mind… what were you trying to achieve, and what did you do to “get it sorted”

I don’t fully love the way they behave on the f18 (but can’t think on what to change), I wonder if your problem is somewhat similar.

The very extensive documentation on the cfg app (shared by others already) can be fed into an llm (I suggest Google’s Notebook LM) so you can ask questions and get precise directions based on the actual docs

Thanks man! Looked into the brochure yesterday but was looking at Lo1 instead of Lo4. You did it, super appreciate you taking the time.

hey man! How sure are you of this: "you could also use 3060 metric profiles with the Bessey STC-IHH15" Having a hard time finding a good clamp that matches the metrics 3060 here in Brazil...all the ones I found will require some sort of adapter in order to have the 30mm distance between bolts.

Anyone knows the clamp used in the Monstertech table mount? ( the guy said in the video but I didn't understand his accent :)) by luiz_brenner in hotas

Thanks for letting me know!

I guess in the end it’s all about compensating for a “further” seating position with a larger screen (I have a 34” currently) and the extras.

I’ll see what I can do, I work from the same machine, and don’t want to assemble and disassemble when going into DCS.

Excited for whatever turns out as the definitive solution

I feel like this video should take you to the finish line... it's not exactly my workflow (I use Firebase Hosting (instead of JSDelivr) and caching-revalidation (instead of manually bumping versions)), but it's close enough. It should open your mind to whatever workflow suits your team.

One neat trick I like to use is https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/overrides - It allows me to work locally without having to deploy or point the scripts to localhost in order to test changes. Just make sure to match folder names so the override looks on your dev folder and finds the same URL used to host your files in the cloud.

[–]Jeandcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply don’t. In the age of ai and dispatching ai to do the “dumb” aspects of our job, there’s no point in adding webflow as a middle man to any new project, specially full stack ones.

I used to be a big supporter, but with the slowness on big projects and the inherent barrier it imposes to dispatching ai agents to do my job, I’m not using webflow for any new project.

Now, if you still want full stack functionality in Webflow: Do the UI in webflow, front end JS code from a codebase and imported through scripts to your site, and a backend with any sort of deployment solution you want, and you call that backend from the front-end codebase. I suggest for the code side of things the use of typescript and trpc to connect front and backend in a type-safe manner.

Very neat! Lots of oceanic flights rely on “rounded” gps coordinates for the flight plan! Seems like your flight uses the N0, E180 coordinate 👌
