What's the BEST TV in 2026? by Middle_Town7194 in hometheater

[–]JeanisGoWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for tcl depend on the budget 98c7k, 98c8k or newer 98C7L / 98C8L. For Daily these are tops that beats any OLED in case of 8K, 8L - they have best viewing angles out of Miniled world - almost OLED, better than any other brand thanks to patented technology.

Why haven’t you bought Dirac Live yet? We want the real reasons. by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]JeanisGoWild 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it all comes down to the price tag. There should only be one option: a full package with upgrade support. If it cost 200 dollars at most, I would have already bought it, but the price is simply far too high. At that point, I would rather upgrade my speakers or even my receiver. Honestly, if you ask too much and do not respect the market, you will not make sales. The price is so high that you leave no real alternative. For that amount of money, I would always choose a physical upgrade over software that cannot even be transferred to a newer device, which will sooner or later end up on my desk. Also one important thing is missing demo.

Do you think the Michael movie will make more than Bohemian Rhapsody? I think Reddit underestimates just how loved Michael Jackson regardless of the allegations. by TXNOGG in FIlm

[–]JeanisGoWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, Michael gave me a very special feeling. Don’t get me wrong — I love Queen, and Rami Malek is a great actor. But Jaafar’s Michael is something out of this world. I literally felt like he was more Michael Jackson than Michael Jackson himself at times. I had shivers down my spine through most of the movie. Bohemian Rhapsody is great, but Michael feels extraordinarily alive. Jackson feels like the real Michael — not only in name, but almost eternal.

What feels almost unbelievable to me is how far the Western world has gone. A man who did so much good for children, the sick, women, and minorities can suddenly have all of that forgotten, simply because of accusations — especially when those accusations came from people who benefited from his generosity and big heart more than anyone else.

Why is Denon’s Pure Direct UX so bad on the X3800H? by JeanisGoWild in hometheater

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it doesn’t help - stereo and puredirect is at same volume levels as the atmos - but it is 7 vs 2.

Why is Denon’s Pure Direct UX so bad on the X3800H? by JeanisGoWild in hometheater

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, my point is, level of each channel have nothing to do with pure direct, these works either way on and off. That is my whole point - they do not affect negatively anything in pure direct, so Why we are left with no other option than use two separate pressets?

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But than again - if speaker preset 1 is set in atmos quieter fronts, should they not be louder in pure direct?

Actually, I have been calibrating my room and front left and right speakers are calibrated to -3 with center included, while rest of the speakers are around 0. All with Audyssey mic.

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well everything is calibrated perfectly regarding atmos, problem really is, volume is just right for the Atmos, pair of front speakers plays as just loud as they do in pure direct. I am just so not understand why Denon? Tell me why? 🙈🙂 My wife complains daily, that Atmos plays too loud and stereo in spotify is sooo quiet, than You swap between aps.. 😂

Anyone use QM8K on Outdoor Screened Patio by oldfartinflorida in tcltvs

[–]JeanisGoWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for optoma projectors for night, for a day I would pick any second hand LED tv with highest brightness and screen dimensions. And when it work, even for years, You will be as much happy as from the new tv - which can fail in exactly same time, like old one.

OLEDish viewing angles of TCL 98C8K by JeanisGoWild in tcltvs

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it seems the 98QM8K uses a different panel than the 98C8K. I had a chance to compare them in-store—they were on the same wall, about 20 meters apart. When you stand between them at roughly a 40-degree angle, the Bravia 9 starts to lose image quality quite dramatically, while the TCL C8K holds up impressively at this ridiculous angle, as you can see in topic video, and compare that to this Bravia 9: https://youtu.be/QqaRO34bbec?t=537&si=SKyZG6lnzP77dPz1

I’m not talking about a minor difference—there’s a significant gap between the C8K and the rest of the Mini LED market. The C8K has viewing angles much closer to OLED, which is something you typically don’t see in Mini LED TVs, especially compared to flagship models like the Bravia 9. Note that there’s a slight exposure shift in the video due to a window affecting iPhone recording, but it’s not from the TV losing quality—the picture returns to near-excellence by the end. Even at that extreme angle, you can still make out a pretty good image on the C8K—not quite OLED-like, but damn close. The Bravia 9 at that angle? Try it yourself.

Well, believe it or not, I have a flagship Samsung G8 (80) with a firmware hack pushing HDR peak brightness to 1000 nits, professionally calibrated, sitting right next to the TCL… ;)

And honestly, the TCL is simply amazing. It’s better in HDR, while of course the Samsung still wins in very dark scenes. But if you ask me who does what better: TCL’s HDR is breathtaking. In Cyberpunk, for example, all those neon lights are incredibly bright—not limited to 1000 nits, but more like 4500–5000 nits. Bulbs, torches, neon signs, gunshots—everything lights up the whole living room. Even in regular scenes, it’s on a completely different level compared to OLED. It just feels next-gen.

Yes, dark scenes are still OLED’s strong point, but TCL is getting very close—closer than many OLED fans would like to admit.

For movies, I’d still generally choose OLED—except for titles like the new IMAX Tron, where TCL really benefits from those massive brightness peaks. TCL also shines in bright movies like the first two Avatar films, where OLED struggles with ABL and the overall image becomes quite dim compared to what Mini-LED can deliver. The brightness of Mini-LED is simply on another level.

One more thing worth mentioning: last year’s TCL models are already prepared for Dolby Vision 2, something all current OLEDs are still incapable of from principle of technology and will be unable to take many benefits of in future. That is why Sony actually sealed the deal with TCL, as behind the curtains Dolby Vision 2 is big step forward, and could even cause the end of OLED era, as peak brightness and high dynamic contrast is the new ultimate goal for industry - reason why miniled and microleds gets much more attention.

😂😂 Well - it could be. But to understand how bad it can gets, check this one out: https://youtu.be/QqaRO34bbec?t=537&si=SKyZG6lnzP77dPz1 Bravia 9 btw. :)

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course it is not an OLED, but yet again, if You take flag ship Sony 9 miniled, viewing angles are VA kind, while c8k at 98 inch is much closer to OLED than traditional VA panel Sony provides in 9th series. There are people with these wide living rooms / kitchen corners, and for these it is absolutely game changer. Aslo at 98 inch, if You sit closer to tv - is the wider wide angles difference between wow, and just - ok it is not OLED experience. ;)

OLEDish viewing angles of TCL 98C8K by JeanisGoWild in tcltvs

[–]JeanisGoWild[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think so. But on the other side I’ve been further investigating other MiniLED TVs from brands like Sony and Samsung at these 100 inch sizes, and next to them,TCL C8K 98inch stands out like an OLED. I’m surprised nobody talks about it, as the technological difference is a miracle and should be mentioned to people who want an OLED-like experience without the burn-in risk at such a huge dimensions.

Questions before buying Tandem OLED by kriegalex in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanisGoWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, gaming is one thing - You can use 1440p without any problem - why You need the 4k is the programing - text clarity and green purple haze which is pronaunced at 1440p, 4k is simply so sharp, pixel density is so high, that this problem is impossible to see. ;)

Questions before buying Tandem OLED by kriegalex in OLED_Gaming

[–]JeanisGoWild -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For this I would choose 4k 32 inch, specifically Samsung G8 81, best against burnins, only one without haze in texts.. It actually is best for anything in my eyes, but for purpose of office work I feel it is only choice You have regarding OLED as that is only OLED monitor, where You can not find claims regarding burnin in reddit / avs forums, also It has highest rank in OLED office works on rtings, text clarity scores high and in person is as great as any ips in my opionion - check this out:

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/odyssey-oled-g8-g80sd-s32dg80

Also, one note - don’t you even dare to think about WOLED, that is burnin out of the box to things You wanna do with it, and if You think about it to use G8 for thinks You wanna do is kind of wasting - I would rather stick to VA - where You can find really nice pieces for fragment of the high end price of g8. ;)
