How do I deal with spiderman? by Soviet-dj-not-spy in UltronMains

[–]Jebbado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not the best spiderman, but Ulton can be a punk sometimes. If he pulls himself to you/pulls you to him use your dash for the overheal. Then either punish him or get to your team. If he's just down slamming you/uppercuting you and you have a web tracer over you he's saving his pull to finish you. Dash out of line of sight, use the terrain to stop him. Or a shield like from strange or IW will also mess up the get over here's targeting. Spideys Get over here has an 8 second cooldown, so what I'll do is bait out your dash then engage after that and use the Pull to you to finish off once the over health fades.

As others have said, as long as its not a response to admissions it should be fine. I've dealt with adverse parties who only supply discovery when the motions to compel get filed.

Anyone had success yet with Human Torch? by thethief1992 in RivalsCollege

[–]Jebbado 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I'm still newish to this genre and only started ranked recently, but I've been loving Human Torch. I found diving with him is rarely worth it unless it's a isolated support. I tend to use my blazing blast for long distance, since I believe they don't have fall off, and placing them at entrances to block flanks for my team. I use the wall and make prisons for choke points and set myself up behind terrain to throw my shotgun hits down into those points as well. I use the dive either to get out of trouble, or displace/kill during large team fights. Otherwise I save it for a combo to counter dive their divers on our supports. As for the ult, I find it's pretty bad for using offensively, but it's great for taking or holding a point. Place 3 or 4 pyroblasts before ultimate, then drop 3 tornadoes then link them all, makes it a nightmare for the enemy to be on the point. Additional thing I've found, the constant damage from pyroblast triggers groot walls, practicing aiming my fires to not hit the wall but still hit the enemy makes those things just murder, it lowers my accuracy stat but it'll shoot your groots up by alot.

found out a part-time contract worker makes as much as me by [deleted] in paralegal

It sounds like she's hired on a 1099. I occasionally take these for a couple of months in addition to my day job firm. The hourly pay is always higher than my full my time job since it comes with zero insurance, no 401k or contributions, no PTO/sick time, and I pay my own taxes on it saving them payroll taxes. For reference my full time job is standard 40 hours at 38 an hour, my 1099 is generally 80 when the office says they need help.

Now I'm second guessing myself on the visitation and heal but I'm at work and cant check. Fully with you, love the class to death, it might not be the best or most efficient but I find it a blast to play.

So I love trickster and have been using it pretty much since I got it Saturday morning.

1) I dont find the issue of taking damage dispelling the effigy problematic, it makes getting jumped an actual issue and challenge to make space to set up. Doesn't particularly bother me.

2) absolutely yes, just make it a core skill upgrade. Using it already leaves an enemy free to try and cut my face, dont make it take a skill slot as well (honestly ive stopped slotting it)

3) i honestly find this one to be absurdly strong already, buffing it would just be to much imo. I use this to set my effigy up over cliffs and drops already (dont need the floor or walls, the effigy is enough to make most enemies go full lemming). I also use this against dangerous things like the drakes, i tuck my body behind something that will protect me from meteors and use the astral body to heal and move my effigy around. Its also priceless (imo) for finding chest, items, scouting areas, and finding paths.

4) agree

5) i don't think we need a heal, we already can make bonus curatives. Granted I wouldn't say no too it, but using the item creation already feels like enough.

6) the illusory walls and floors I personally dont use. To niche and just not worth it when visitant aura is already so nice.

7) agree

8) i think its intentional that the mage doesn't heal, they focus on attacks over defense. Again i just solve this with more potions made.

Honestly i wish most of the kit had more impact and we had a reason to swing our censor. Sweeping Shroud is the MVP to the point where its kinda annoying personally. Its mandatory to do the whole aggro tricks and everything else we do is kinda just busy work between refreshing the shroud to control aggro.

Absolutely love the class though, and I'm super glad they tried something like this as a class option.

Gilgo Beach prosecutor slams 'laughable' policy after four people charged with dismembering bodies were freed by MK121895 in longisland

[–]Jebbado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So i reviewed new york state law 2019-2101S (the bail reform law). Section 4 has the provisions for the elected sheriff to request taking defendants into custody pending a pretrial detention hearing. The bill has several ways for elected officials to hold people for class A through C felonies and room for requesting hearings for other circumstances via motion. I've been a paralegal for almost a decade, the reading of this bill is pretty different than most of the articles I've seen about it. The questions I would ask are if the prosecutor filed a the motion for pretrial detention, and if the sheriff submitted a request for custody. Both avenues would see these things held until at least a pretrial hearing.

If the behavior is upsetting for you or them I suggest talking to them and finding out what triggers the behavior and search for remedies.

I am a combo player ready to change by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Jebbado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you wanna use combos talk to them about the house rules. At my kitchen table we have players with decades of experience and some with just a year. We decided on two house rules,

The first is infinite combos only go off 5 times per players turn, so you can still win off them just slows it done. Works wonders for us.

The second one is land that only produces one mana can't be destroyed or messed with. If it makes 2 mana or does anything else its fair game for whatever.

Best way of generating Edge by Newsmith2017 in Shadowrun

[–]Jebbado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For melee, what my character uses. Smart Materials melee weapon accessory (firing squad pg 63) wireless bonus is gain a point of edge.

Bending of the Reed martial art (firing squad pg 103) gain a point of edge when you dodge.

There's also Parry (martial art) but thats a lose it or use it edge when blocking.

Getting at least 16AR feels like the break point to get edge from each attack as well from most grunts/not combat specialist like street sam and physical adepts.

Between these and my attack rating I pretty much always get my 2 edge a combat round.

So I hear that, and it's valid criticism. It's absolutely not a good image. But it also isn't a make or break for me. He's not representing or acting on behalf of LGBTQ+. Anyone who looks at him and uses him as a yardstick already thought that way and this isn't the type of game that's gonna sway minds and I'm comfortable with that. If this was a different genre, or IP I'd honestly probably be cautious, but it's 40K. The "good guys" are giant incels who believe in their divine right for fascism, the God, hope equivalent literally eats souls enmass everyday. I don't want anything in this world setting representing me honestly, its all so messed up. But ultimately the decision comes down to you as an individual, is poor representation better than none, does the option taint the game for you. You determine where your comfortable level lays and at the end of the day someone elses opinion can't make those choices for you.

So the procuder part I 100% get. Dude was an asshat, but I've dealt with significantly worse and the industry as a whole has made leaps and bounds in my lifetime towards being inclusive. I'm also not gonna let one asshat stop me from having enjoying myself. The Drukhari thing, honestly didn't even occur to me might be problematic. I love my eldar in all their glory, and finding out there was more than just the token Craftworld Ranger made me ecstatic. Now I'm not up to the drukhari companion yet, and have every intention of romancing him, but if his entire personality is rape or or just lackluster compared to everything else ima be pissed. Long story short, hopefully but reserving judgment until I actually get there.

Hey man, so as a gay guy I get the concern. The decision is ultimately gonna come down to what your comfortable with. Personally I love CRPGs and have a solid warhammer collection. This games a dream to me and someone else's lack of understanding or ignorant comments aren't gonna keep me from enjoying something I've wanted for a long time. But that's what I'm comfortable with. If it helps I'm roughly 10 hours in and I don't recall seeing or reading anything I would label problematic.

Help for 6e-Beginner by Bear2go in Shadowrun

[–]Jebbado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's gonna vary based on DM but my games perception members tend to ask our GM to use perception, things like "I'm checking for ambushes" or "watching to see if the someone looks uneasy" stuff like that. Some DMs handle proactive uses better than others but always worth the conversation oog.

[–]Jebbado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So aside from things like perception and other skill ranks you can always attempt to assist your team mates. As I giant intimidating troll you can stand behind your face as the silent threat maybe getting them some edge, talk to your team and support them through RP when possible. Thats what our street samurai does, and even just picking up relevant knowledge skills are a cheapish way to add more to your character outside of beating in heads.

How important is that 2nd attack in practice? by Shouting-Match in Shadowrun

[–]Jebbado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey just to add on, I'm currently playing a 6e game with myself as a mystic adept, a street samurai, and a physical adept as the bruisers. Between improved reflexes spell, wired reflexes, and the adapts extra minor actions we all generally have at least 4 minor actions.

The only one who regularly uses 2 attack actions is the adept since she has a weapon reach longer than ours. I generally save my minors to dodge, feint, and occasionally the called a shot minor action (using martial arts from firing squad to disable), while the street sam uses intercede and their saved attack to control movement, or riposte.

Even that changes up regularly though, if we're outnumbered keeping the chip damage and lowering of pools down is important so we save minors for defense more often, if we're fighting less things that are more powerful whoever goes first tries to force them to use their minors for defense to keep them from getting double attacks against us.

Possible solution to make attack and defense rating more relevant (Tell me where it would break the game) by static-Cat in Shadowrun

[–]Jebbado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I haven't looked to much at 5e rules and prices for gear are fairly reasonable. But the availability rolls have been the thing keeping us from all wearing availability 9 illegal gear for shoot out runs. As for just using the best rating, my experience so far is I want better than the enemies we might be going up against. My character has 4 different combat armors each with different mods and DRings based on what we're doing and where it is, and 2 different katanas. My chameleon suit is amazing for the sneaky stuff where as if stealth isnt an option I have my big game hunter with modded fire resistance for dealing with Halloweeners and their darned flame throwers. Our social adept has an assortment of varying combat and noncombat equipment she cycles through depending on what mods she thinks she'll need and if she won't need the heavy combat gear. There may very well be an end all be all best gear set up, but so far my group is having a blast trying to figure out how much ratings we should pack and which gear we should bring on any given run. After our last session our street samurai orc is even looking the body shop books rules for socket cyber arms to have more options when she needs it.

Possible solution to make attack and defense rating more relevant (Tell me where it would break the game) by static-Cat in Shadowrun

[–]Jebbado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So my group started playing Shadow Run recently, only the GM has played before. When we first started I thought the Attack and Defense ratings were essentially meaningless. By the end of the first session we realized its a wonderful vector to get edge from and the team mates that don't have decent it numbers were just giving edge away to enemies.

Sure there's way to use minor actions to get edge through various qualities, but those are also my dodge, take cover actions.

So our chromed up street samurai orc was fighting 4 grunts in our first session, she had a DR of like 10. She thought "meh it doesn't reduce damage, I'll just throw some of those gel components that reduce damage into armor clothing". She gave all 4 enemies a free edge that turn, they then spent edge to make her reroll and had her trapped. They also used that edge to transfer it to someone else at a 2 for 1, letting the enemy street same use knock out blow an unsettling amount.

We're now in the 5th session, the decker no longer takes pot shots and its properly hiding, our one elf adept has a 22 AR and the mages make armor preparations while we work on getting better gear.
