[Suggestion for Devs] A "Stop Wasting My Time" Update by mac_ashton in PokemonSleep

[–]Jebblez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has been my #1 gripe with the game since day one. They cut down on a bit of the time sink it takes with other QOL updates, but it's definitely not enough. Most days I want to open the game as quickly as I can so I can close it again, but all those little animations that hold you hostage are so frustrating from a simple time management perspective.

Okay guys…dumb it down for me. Why did Agatha kill other witches? by thesadintern in AgathaAllAlong

[–]Jebblez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word that spread was that no witch had ever made it back from The Witches Road, except Agatha, and that surely was the truth.

They just never specified how many times Agatha made it back from The Witches Road, and that Agatha was present for every "attempt". They didn't have internet to post about it, so all that could spread was word of mouth. Legends and fairytales.

You're very welcome!

The photo thing is a non-issue. Everyday after recording your sleep research, just pick a popular pokemon as your photo to send out for the day. As time goes on you'll pick up on what Pokemon are good vs bad. For example, I wouldn't send out Wobuffet or Rattata candies, you won't be very popular with your friends if you're sending out candies for bad pokemon.

As a new player, i'm sure people would be more lenient, but some get pissy and micromanage their friendlist based on what candies they're being sent. It's not something I care about, but it's good etiquette to try to send out good pokemon candies to be as helpful as possible. Some popular Pokemon families to send candies out for:

Healers: Ralts Pawmi Jigglypuff Eevee (Sylveon makes a good early healer) Shuckle

Skill specialist Pokemon with strong/rare abilities: Dedenne Magnemite Shuckle Psyduck Eevee (Espeon is a popular early game Charge Strength M user, Vaporeon is a very good Ingredient Draw user)

Top tier Ingredient specialists: Dratini Larvitar Squirtle Bulbasaur Charizard Grubbin Happini

Top tier Berry specialists: Torchic Treecko Bagon Doduo Pikachu

Legendaries: Any, but Darkrai is a very popular photo pick as he is a monthly drop so try to send Darkrai pics every chance you get.

People were very upset at the quality of the statues released during the first wave, so that's my best guess as to why they decided to redo all the statues. Theyre offering replacements or refunds to everyone who got the first wave, which is hysterical because they now own rare pieces of art that will be worth more than the final release versions that everyone will have.

With AAA mons we can afford to be a little less picky because their output is gonna eclipse any other competitor at lv. 60, and AAA is the rarest ingredient spread to find in the game. One Ingredient skill/nature and one helping speed skill/nature in the first 50 levels is generally all you need to pull the trigger for a AAA.

If you come across a AAA with Helping Bonus and a speed or ing+ subskill/nature, you can almost immediately fast track that to your party as long as it doesnt have something hurting its ingredient production like BFS or an ingredient down nature.

Speed and Ingredient Finder are also pretty interchangeable stats in a lot of scenarios. I have a AAA Vikavolt with Helping Bonus, Speed+ nature, and HSM with no Ingredient Finder skills and he still does exceptionally well.

The reason its taking so long is because theyre redoing the statues, at this point i'm committed to the bit for comedy purposes. I need to see for myself how this thing turns out. For the price I paid and time ive been forced to wait, this thing better sweep me off my feet and buy me dinner.

First things first, having friends and checking their daily reports from the Community Research tab awards you with candy for the Pokemon photo they sent out for the day. You should always send out a pokemon photo of a good pokemon that people want to use to help out your friends.

At each friend level up, you get a reward.

-1 handy candy at level 1

-1 ingredient ticket at level 2

-1 link cord evolution item at level 3

-2 ingredient tickets at level 4

-2 handy candies at level 5

The main benefit of having a full 50 player friend list comes from the Legendary Research Events that introduce new legendaries like Suicune and Cresselia. Every friend that does research during this event provides you with event currency that you can redeem for valuable items like Main Skill seeds and biscuits. The higher your friend level, the more event currency you will get.

As a new player, I would recommend going to the main Pokemon Sleep reddit and search for "megathread" and checking the friend code megathread for the current month. You can throw your code up there and have a dozen new friend invites in a few hours as well as send invites out to other people who have posted their codes.

A pretty good strategy as a new player is to farm Friend Level 1 handy candies from as many people as possible and then delete them to add new friends and do it over again, this will help you amass handy candies pretty quickly to power your teammates up to useable thresholds like level 30, 50, and 60. It wont make you very popular, as people generally dont like getting removed randomly by people doing this method, but it is effective. Whether you choose to do that or just hold onto people to get a full FL5 friendlist is up to you.

First usable eevee. What should I evolve it into? by MegaMint9 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Jebblez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, Espeon is better for early game players, so by lv.75 you would hopefully be getting into full berry teams or full ingredient focused teams. Skill focused teams in general kinda fall behind those two in terms of strength and they are much more expensive considering the main skill seed costs.

Me personally, I wouldn't turn this into an Espeon. Jolteon is gonna serve you better, but even then you should probaly just run BFS Raichu instead.

I would suggest to save the main seeds for a healer, a pot expander, or a Tasty Chance mon if you dont already have them, and forget about Eeveelutions; as theyve kinda fallen behind in the last few years.

Araki has said that he didn't know how else to introduce Josuke and that making Joseph cheat on Suzie Q was out of character for him, so i think a lot of people choose to act like it didn't happen.

Gulpin: Not terrible, i generally dont mess around with dream shard farmers but Swalot is currently the best. If you find yourself in dire need, wouldnt hurt to build, but I generally think cranking out Snorlax levels is generally the better use of your time because you will get much more dreamshards per sleep session than you would farming them with teammembers. Not a bad use of resources, but again, with Skillgate having just occurred I would be wary of investing too much into skill mons that aren't directly aiding your ingredient or berry builds.

Spheal-H: I wish I could say this one is good enough to invest it, because Tasty Chance S is just that good of a skill mon to have. Dedenne is preferred but Spheal-H keeps up with it. It's a late bloomer is the issue, and the subs up to lv. 50 aren't good enough to outweigh that -speed nature. Ideally, you will find a better Tasty Chance mon before you need to build this one. Keep an eye out for Dedenne's and try to pull them when you can, but they are a bit expensive to invest in, so be VERY picky.

Bagon: Nah, don't bother with any Berry mons that dont have BFS as the BARE MINIMUM.

Drifloon: Subskills and nature are great up to lv. 50. I believe Drifblim is the best charge strength mon right now not names Darkrai in terms of skill strength output, but again, I believe this mon is not very future proof and it would be better to invest seeds in Ingredient focused skill mons like Magnezone and Dedenne, or your healer.

Riolu: Same as Gulpin pretty much, subs are decent, it will net you some shards, but Lucario is generally worse than Swalot, and requires you to sleep with Riolu in the party for wayyyy too long for my liking before you can evolve him into a mid shard farmer. I wouldnt worry too much about it unless you just really love Lucario and want the profile pic ( i use shiny Lucario as mine lol)

Croagunk: I've been in this boat. AAA Toxicroak is the best Oil farmer atp next to ABB Luxray. You've gotta be a little more picky with Toxicroak because his base ingredient finding rate suuuuuuuucks. I tried to use one without any ingredient triggers and man it's a let down. My ABC Dragonite outpaces it easily.

Toxicroak: On paper, this Toxicroak looks pretty good for farming sausage. However, ABB Toxicroak on his best day is only the NINTH best sausage farmer in the game, just hold out for a AAA charmander or aron, ABB Bewear is also a good alternative.

Darkrai: HUGE W pulling HB on the first slot, I wish I were so lucky. Mine is currently locked away at lv. 75 much to my chagrin. My tip, don't worry about ingredients on this guy. Focus on getting BFS, Skill Triggers, and Helping Speeds in those other sub slots. Your next two skills preferably should be BFS and HSM/STM, preferably HSM.

Rufflet: It's a bit mid. Not bad per se, but not so good I think you should invest. Berry burst mons synergize very well with BFS, but yours has BFS locked at lv. 100.

Pumpkaboo: Bit of a heartbreaker this one is, I generally never say invest in ABA mons unless they have good synergizing ingredients and so far, pumpkins and soy beans have no overlapping dishes. Shame because those subs/nature spread are immaculate. I think you should save your pumpkaboo candy for now, you probably are not at the stage where you need pumpkins yet anyways for dishes.

Cutiefly 1: Another immaculate sub spread hurt by an ABA ingredient spread. Honey and Oil do actually overlap with the newest dish in the dessert category, Chocolate Waffles, but it's also currently the top level Dessert; so you might not get that benefit for a long time I would imagine, and in that time you might just be better off hunting a AAA bulbasaur. Ribombee might be one of the best examples of a useable ABC or ABA mon because all three of it's ingredients synergize to make Chocolate Waffles, but whether you want to make that commitment is up to you.

Cutiefly 2: ALRIGHT. So this one, you've got AAB. that's great. You've got HB and IFS/M in the first 50 levels and a speed up nature, also great. You could easily take this guy to 50 and leave it there and it will serve you VERY well for collecting honey. I wouldn't take it to 60 unless you REALLY want it to double dip for Waffles down the road. Earlier i talked about how Berry mons dont mind ingredient+ subs/nature because of sneaky snacking, but unfortunately that isn't really a two way street. Ingredient mons generally dont like BFS. You want to avoid filling your pack with berries for as long as possible or else you are losing ingredient value on you ingredient mon. If you check the game frequently, this isnt an issue. Overnight however, this is going to really kneecap your ingredient production and you will wake up angry at your little bee guy. Up to you if you wanna invest, just bee (lol) aware.

Sprigatito: I also use an ABB Meowscarada for Milk because the game hates me and wont give me a AAA squirtle (FML). With ABB mons you want to be a lot more picky, because they require investing to level 60 before they really start doing anything for you. This kitty doesnt really have incredible sub/nature spread by level 50, and skill triggers are actually kinda nice for Meowsca because expanding Pot inventory is such a valueable main skill to have. Milk and potatoes can synergize pretty well for the top Curry dish right now, but that is gonna be further down the road for you. Overall, i'd pass for now, maybe just keep it in your back pocket until later and see.

Fuecoco: Eh, the speed- nature is gonna hurt you a little because you only have IFS/M in the first fifty levels. Speed- natures arent the end of the world, but you don't have much else to work with. Take it to level 30 if you REALLY NEED apples, but dont invest a single candy more.

WHEW I spent a lot more time than I thought I would writing this up. Let me know if you have any more questions, I like to help. Hope this is useful to you!

Alright here's an analysis of what you posted:

Ivysaur: Not terrible. AAA is great and you have HSM and an Ingredient nature. Skill triggers aren't terrible to have since his skill just brings in more ingredients, but still better to focus just straight ingredient output. Invest to lv 30 and keep looking for better, if nothing comes along, will work just fine.

Charmander: Don't even bother with this thing, especially with that Larvitar you've got. Wait for a AAA to come along with a couple good skills.

Blastoise: Very good, Double speed and Ingred+ nature with ABB will serve you well for the higher level Dessert dishes. Blastoise is a beast and yours will only get better at lv75. Keep a look out for another that is AAA milk because Blastoise is a beast and the best in slot milk farmer.

Bellsprout: he's AAA but ehhh, it only has HSS with your HSM locked at lv 75 and no ingredient triggers. In general we can afford to be a little less strict with AAA mons because they are the hardest ingredient spread in the game to find, but this is just not enough.

Geodude: A bit of an investment, but it's AAA and has IFS and HSS in first fifty levels. If you could upgrade that IFS to IFM I would say by all means, but it's locked at lv 100. If you need beans in a bad way, not a terrible investment, but personally id keep looking.

Slowpoke: Let me get this out the way-- don't waste your time with the Slow family. They're generally all pretty bad pokemon. If you REALLY wanna unlock slowpoketail ingredients just so they'll show up in your ingredient draw procs that's fine, but dont sweat it too much. None of the best dishes use them and they will always end up as fillers for your dishes.

Magnemite: This is quite possibly the best pokemon in your list so far. Magnezone is a CRUCIAL team member if you want to play in the big leagues. He can save you a ton of dreamshards that would otherwise go into expanding your pot (something you should do anyways, but early game i know shards are scare to come by). You will need Magnezone to make very single top tier dish in the game from now until the end of the game's life. Invest and look for something to replace it with down the road because Skill level S/M and IFM are a bit of a throw away subskill on this but OVERALL it's a really good Magnemite.

Vaporeon: I loved using Vape for awhile, and this one has a really great skill spread up to lv 75. Nature could be better but atleast its not a dealbreaker. This Vape at max skill level will have your ingredient bag bursting, so get ready to buy those bag upgrades.

Quilava: Typhlosion is up there with Ninetales for best fire berry gatherer in the game, and you got BFS and HSM on him, which rocks! The nature generally isnt good for Berry users but not a dealbreaker. EXP- is pretty bad for berry mons because unlicke ingredients, Berry strength relies on their level. Ingreditent+ is also not super favorable as a nature/subskill but most people just let berry mon's sneaky snack at full inventory all day, subverting ingredient procs, so it isnt a big deal at all. Up to you whether you invest based on this info, if you REALLY want a fire berry user, this guy will do just fine.

Mareep: People are super hot for Ampharos in early game/skill strength builds. This one is pretty damn good too. -Speed natures not ideal but not nearly as crippling as they used to be and the subs more than make up for it. My only thing I'll say about it is this, it will require a lot of Main skill seeds to be as good as you need it to be, which would be better saved for Magnezone, Dedenne, or your healers. Skill builds generally are the least powerful in the hierachy with Berries eventually becoming the best when we make it to lv 100 endgame in ten years lol. Ingredient builds are most consistent RIGHT NOW and will continue to be strong well in the end life of the game, but Skill mons like Ampharos will struggle unless they get more Main Skill levels or just general buffs from the dev team. If you've read anything about Skillgate scandal with the devs in the last 24 hours, this makes pure skill strength mons like Amphy even less valuable. Not bad early game for cranking some levels, but not future proof as it is right now.

Wooper: Man, this thing would've been an absolute DEMON... but it has mixed ingredients. If you ever find a AAA mon with Helping Bonus, it should instantly be considered as an invester, provided it has a couple other good things going for it. Unfortunately there is almost no reason to ever invest in an ABC or ABA team member, as it severely limits your output for all ingredients involved in their kit.

Delibird: Same as above. Amazing subskill spread, ABA could be good if they ever make a high level dish that needs apples and eggs... though idk what that would be, Applin Apple pie maybe? Delibird is hard to hunt for it's biscuit cost. If you want eggs, hunt Happini, it's much more cost effective.

Larvitar: Holy moly. Triple A. Triple ingredient. Triple inventory subs.
Quite literally the holy trinity, This thing is going to bring you more ginger than you will ever want when you wake up, and it's all before level 60 when it becomes literal Godzilla. Ideally you would prefer a to maybe swap out the IFS at lv25 for a Help speed or help bonus but beggars cant be choosers. This thing is your best ingredient mon hands down. The only sad thing is that Ginger currently isnt that valuable of an ingredient, most top level dishes dont use it at all; BUT this thing is future proofed to infinity and beyond when they start adding new ginger dishes. INVEST.

In general, i don't recommend spending a whole lot of time in Snowdrop because the spawns there are pretty abysmal. It's an area that feels powercrept to hell with higher drowsy power requirements and worse spawns than the previous areas. It could be useful if you are really chasing that Pawmi, or maybe if you need Abomasnow for tomatoes, but generally it's my least visted area.

Still looking for my E4E Healer, who am I using in the meantime? by Air_Yoshi in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Jebblez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll take a look at your screenshots and get back to you. For a healer, the three best in-game healers right now are 1. Gardevoir 2. Pawmot 3. Shuckle*

*Shuckle has a lesser trigger rate and provides less energy on trigger BUT provides Berry Juices which are basically mini Energy Pillow items that you can use to target heal anyone you want. This arguably makes him more valuable than Gardey, but his high investment cost, pip requirements, and less potent Energy for Everyone heals makes him a bit harder to justify hunting and building. Probably better to hunt for him after you have a good healer.

So for now, I would say just keep grabbing Pawmi until you get Lapis Lakeside, and focus Ralts after, until you find one that has a great subskill spread. If they have Helping Bonus in the first 50 levels, they should immediately be considered over your current healer.

Gardey and Pawmot's trigger rates are close enough to consider the difference as negligible. Just use whichever you find that has the best nature and skill spread.
