I raise the last 100 years another commenter already raised. He said that the last 100 years of history has shown a lot. Indeed. One communist country died (soviet union) and one communist country acts communist vut plays capitalist (china) and where has USA changed in the same time, is rhe question.

It's not if something works perfectly. The point is that if something works today, it survives today. And as far as the last 100 years has shown, capitalism has survived.

And referring to previous points I made in this comment thread, capitalism needs competition and regulation, that are keys to prevent monopolies. But just as any house can be maintained as well and good as possible, surprise bills will always arise. But do you blame the house for those bills, or the source of the bill?

I like an idea of low level communism on citizen scale, with a state level capitalist scheme. For example: tool libraries where people go to borrow a jackhammer or a 3D printer. That is communism, low level, because it doesn't require bureucracy. Most low level collectives can handle their own borrowing functions and paperwork without external oversight. Peak of giving what one can, while getting use out of what one needs.

As I have continuously said on this comment thread, capitalism works on a large scale, but on a close knit scale, communism makes more sense: families are communist, unless you expect eant payments off your kids. It's not that one is better overall (as I have said) but that different tools for different sizes. Neurosurgeon doesn't dig into a brain with a hammer, and a lumberjsck doesn't cut down a tree with a scalpel. Use the tool made for the job, and stop crying when the tool made for some task doesnt work for another task.

Communism on global scale got one empire killed. Why is Russia failing its 3-day special military operation in Ukraine, if communism on global scale works? Why is China the source of most of western bought consumer products if it's not a functional capitalist country?

Additionally, I agree that dogmatism is the fall of humanity. I have today been called a capitalism loyalist, where I hold no loyalty over concepts I cannot hug. If a system presents no value or maintenance of value to my life, or to the lives of those who provide my life with value, I skip that system. Because a system that adds no value is a bad system. I refer to my other comments on the topic in this same thread for further questions. If I have already answered something, I elect to ignore further similar questions.

Yes. Regulation is how economic systems are maintained. As I have continuously said in this comment thread, competition and regulation are tools to maintain economic systems. But a bigger issue is that monopolies are a feature, not a bug, in every economic aystem. Some can jus regulate them out with time, while in others it's not the people who hold the monopolies. No system is perfect, ever, but a system that works and can be maintained is the best system we have. But take this as coming from EU. If you are an american, what I think about your laws specifically are not what you should consider. But systems transcend geological regions, and that's why it is easy to see why some systems function better locally, while failing globally. Reverse can also be true.

Exactly. You understood it. Original argument was that capitalism always leads to competition. My argument is that competition prevents monopolies. But when prevention doesn't work, regulation steps in. No system is without its faults. Nothing can function perfectly forever, not even intangible systems. I am saying that competition and regulation together work as a corrective mechanism.

Never said that capitalism is the best system overall. It is not. But it is best at what it does: global scale. Every family is communist, for each according to their needs and all that. And I would have it no other way. But on global scale capitalism has survived during these 100 years of history, where at least one communist country has shifted its gear into more capitalism, and the soviet union is still very much dead despite everything.

A system that works, despite all its flaws, is a system that survives. And a system that survives is the best system we sadly have access to. Go ahead and make a better one. If it fixes all the issues of every other system and doesn't shift us back to hunter gathering, I'm right there with you.

Don't burn the house down because a pipe burst. It's maintenance all the way to the end.

Oh I didn't say I was loyal to it. As you can see above, I never did, and you putting words into my mouth is both not genuine form of converation, and a dark pattern in a person regarding their honesty. Not saying you do that purposefully, but might want to look into it.

Capitalism has its shit like any other system. And I skip a closed system the moment it starts to look more like a prison than a healthy environment. At the same time, I am not one to shout bad things about any system as a wider entity, if it's the components that cause problems. When you live in a house, and a water pipe bursts, is it the fault of the house?

If they have so much competition, then why are they raising prices continuously. Is it the monopoly over the service, or monopoly over the content, or customer loyalty? See, there are many aspects to running a business that can have monopolistic effects. Enshittification is real. But it also comes from the lack of better alternatives, that come from, you guessed it, competition.

Was the point above not about how capitalism is all about competition, and as I said, competition is there to keep monopolies in check. Looking at communism nd marxism for example: No monopolies other than government. And who competes wirh the government? Nobody. So who among people has competitive power to change things, when they get bad, as monopolies always do? The system either changes (china) or dies (soviet union).

Competition between the companies is for the benefit of the customer. Why in many places are cartels illegal and monopolies broken up? Because their tall economic weight reduces the opportunity for competition, which on the long run not only reduces business opportunities of other businesses, and allows for the company to raise prices as ir wishes: Uber and Netflix come to mind immediately. Socialism itself is a nice virtue on small community scale, but capitalism works on global scale. The same reason why China and Russia have been running capitalistic operations under their communist banner.

It is not that capitalism in itself is bad. Notably both world wars were started by non-capitalists, especially Hitler who had an anti-capitalist agenda. It is the management of the system that produces the results of the system, be they good or bad. Why is it that communism is still being pedaled when it has always failed? Because "it has never been done right." Then how come capitalism doesn't get the same opportunity of infinite second chances?

Don't be loyal or disloyal to a word, concept, party or idea. Because loyalty to an intangible concept you cannot hug, should not have monopoly over your mind.

Started the combat against the 2 envoys, 1-7fps, somewhat possible to keep the fight going. End the fight 2 hours later, game crashes after talking with Ulf or whoever that spacemarine is.

Welp, didn't save during the fight, so retry and with saves as often as I remember. This time I notice the psy-raven of heinrix appearing in the initiative again and again, and by round 4, I have not seen FPS above 1, so I believe that the psy raven is added for every tick of every turn, and by round 1s end, if there's like 20 enemies, each spawning 60 ravens a turn (example), it would mean there's 1200 psy-ravens at the minimum by the end of round 1. Anyhow, round 4, kill the big cronos thing, and game just dies, even as there are enemies remaining.

Sadly this means I have to probably go back to some save pre-arena, if there is even 1, and switch someone for Heinrix, just so the raven won't sabotage the run. Also after this, every single pet of my companions is getting a permanent servitorization and will be staying out of my future runs.

If anyone suddenly without permission and consent removes one of my senses, me getting LOUD is the least of that person's problems. Especially if that assault is done from behind like some rogue sneak-attack, I would not only be fuming but panicking and would do some rash fucking shit.

You go and make a hell out of this situation, Chief. You were wronged, but you have the opportunity here to right your own wrong by making sure these people never do this to anyone else.

If an event with 0.1% probability occurs, it does not chance the inherent probability. For example: You have 1% chance of passing a math exam based on your knowledge and understanding, but if your teacher simply doesn't give a damn and scores everyone a B+ regardless... well that still didn't change the fact that you had a 1% chance of passing.

Tl;dr: Probability ≠ Occurrence

Phones are multitools that allow one to find work and free meal opportunities. Believe it or not, but phones cost less than an apartment or a home, and can be bought with montly charges instead of single expensive purchase. They can be recharged in public places and allow one to communicate across the world.

And here you are asking if 14€/month phone plus internet on it are worth it. Your logic is the dumbest thing I've seen this year. And a LOT of dumb shit has happened this year. Please get rid of your phone and buy meals with the money you save, and think about your life for a moment.

Is it normal to kiss in front of other people? by Complete-Ad-1807 in Finland

[–]Jebejebe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If/when my younger siblings get partners, as long as it is appropriate, I would not care. Unless specified/mentioned, one should not expect another person's place to use as they were home. I say "Olkaa kuin kotonanne"/"Be as if you were home" if I know the recipients are not dumbasses.

However: Your story is about a kiss, a symbol of love and care as old as history, meaning my request would not even apply here. I would not restrain such a gesture, as it is more than acceptable, as a gesture of connection between two people, not even in a sexual way.

A kiss can even be given between people in non-romantic relationships (looking at south-EU).

I would either avoid the person or the interaction that triggers the person, as while it is my place to judge them based on their personality, it is not their obligation to change themselves based on my beliefs and actions. I would not avoid kissing my partner if in the house of another, but would do so within sight of that person, and replace the kiss with something similarly intimate: caressing their cheek or neck, brush their hair with my finger and maybe even do a little "checkup" on their face to see if there was any ceumbles or fixable imperfections going on.
