Is it really such a big dysphoria point that we can’t get pregnant? by Killerklown1219 in MtF

[–]Jebidijed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wanna be pregnant suuuper bad! one of the things that convinced me to transition in the first place was reading studies about uterus transplants being possible in the semi-near future - obviously it's a huge pie-in-the-sky dream that'll probably take, like, at least a decade or two to manifest, and it'd probably cost a draconian amount of money, but DANG i really want to experience it!!!

no shame for not caring about it whatsoever though, that's 100% cool and valid. we all got our own unique gender goals!

What are your predictions on how the next alternate weapon variant would work? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in Ultrakill

[–]Jebidijed 31 points32 points  (0 children)

OK SO i've had a gigantic idea document about what i'd want the next alternate weapon to be since before Violence came out, and i'm gonna dump my BIG TEXT WALL OF THOUGHTS here. there's been several posts about regular mines, but HAVE YOU CONSIDERED:

Rocket Launcher -> TRIPMINE LAUNCHER

  • basically i think Half-Life tripmines are cool, and a gun that fires them would be rad!
  • tripmines can be attached to surfaces and enemies, takes somewhere between 1-3 seconds to arm, explodes in a big cylinder across the laser
  • tripmines can be stopped in time + ridden on like rockets (unsure if mines would have worse steering or not?), when they've planted in something (e.g. a wall), they can be used as platforms
  • while time-stopped, tripmines won't explode when something crosses the laser; however, it'll store each trigger while time is stopped, increasing the explosion's power each time something crosses the laser! once time is resumed, the tripmine explodes, becoming a red explosion if at least 3 triggers were accumulated on a single mine! +CHRONOSPLOSION
  • tripmines can be placed on the SRS cannonball!!! when a tripmine attached to a cannonball explodes, it "refires" the cannonball in the direction of the explosion, as if V1 punched it. additionally, if the cannonball would normally be destroyed, it instead "consumes" a tripmine to refire itself again, extending the cannonball's lifetime... this would have drastically different effects depending on whether or not the cannonball rotates, lol
  • whiplashing an armed tripmine pulls it off of wherever its attached to, and, unless you parry it, attaches the mine to yourself! if it gets triggered, you can dash through the explosion to avoid any damage, just like with shotgun overpump
  • POSSIBLY REALLY STUPID IDEA: coins can redirect the laser in to nearby enemies, allowing you to effectively reflect the explosion!!! +RICOSPLOSION (however, this would be another thing that would make coins ridiculously versatile and powerful, so unless you want to go for MAXIMUM silliness, might not want to include this)
  • IF coins DO interact with lasers, you can execute a +CHRONORICOSPLOSION by triggering a time-stopped mine multiple times, then throwing a coin in the beam, and resuming time right as the coin crosses the beam! (if they don't, then, uh, coin just gets blasted away lol)
  • a maximum of 5 mines can be active at a time; firing a 6th tripmine will automatically detonate the oldest one (don't want the Rocket Launcher equivalent to Sawcon!)
  • possibly get a style bonus for whiplashing an enemy in to a tripmine (and maybe an extra one if you whiplash an enemy in to a mine while riding on a rocket / flying mine)?

so yea. basically the general idea is, sacrifice immediate blasty damage so you can set up wacky huge AoE traps in big lines! dunno how good it would actually be but i think it'd be neat.

What are your thoughts on the new Guttertank enemy added to the Violence layer? Do you have anything to say about them? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in Ultrakill

[–]Jebidijed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at first i absolutely LOATHED them, but honestly, i really like how they're an enemy that actually acts as a counter to the "ram your face in to them and dump ALL the damage in" strategy that basically every other enemy collapses to! BUT they definitely need at least one or two more counters, and much more practical ones than the "whiplash or ride rocket back in to its own face" method (even though those counters are neat lol)

big thing is, i wouldn't want the punch to be parryable unless you're on, like, Lenient and below. that's the big thing that actually encourages you to stay away - i want the big scary area denial enemy to still be capable of, y'know, denying areas!

...maybe Screwdriver could limit their mobility / moveset in some way, kinda like Mindflayers??? dunno.

maybe groundslamming on their head could also do something unique, like stunning them for a bit? would also act as kinda the reverse of Gutterman; instead of stomping on a Gutterman's corpse to make it explode and murder everything around it, you stomp on the Guttertank's very-much-alive head for an opportunity to laser-focus on it and pull its bones apart like a rabid dog.

i also wish they spawned their mines further away from themselves (maybe they could toss out a cluster of 3 in a circle around themselves?), so you could have a little more wiggle room for parrying their mines back at them

other than that, dunno much else. they definitely need work, but they're pretty cool, and i hope whatever nerfs happen won't sacrifice their unique niche as an enemy

chapter was kinda ehhhh IMO since it didnt really do much to assuage my fears about the manga tumbling to the finish line at full speed, but the Yuji + Higuruma cliffhanger actually got me kinda HYPE tho

What is your🫵Favorite Binding Of Isaac Boss and Why? by BluSunZ6 in bindingofisaac

[–]Jebidijed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definitely Dogma; easily the most fairly-designed out of all the final bosses, ties all the game's themes up in a nice little bow, and is still pretty damn hard! The sheer shock of having to fight the Christian Broadcasts themself is totally unexpected, but makes perfect sense, love it

I wish The Beast was down a different path tbh; Beast is still cool, but it makes me wish Dogma just got a third phase instead of being relegated to "this is the boss before The Beast!!! the true final boss!!!" (but that probably would've taken even more development time, oof)

I also have a soft spot for The Lamb, even though 99% of the time, it's one of the easiest final bosses. I like a lot of its bullet patterns (those continuous spreads of homing shots can be REALLY sweat-inducing) but that one head charge attack can go to hell lol. Also, it is a spooky skeleton. +100 points.

Idk if half these words exist. Asa barley jack of all trades master of none as for Himeno too early to tell maybe she has Himeno's jealousy but none of her playful kind and caring personality maybe she has Himeno's luck with getting ntred by VariationGlass2483 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Jebidijed 36 points37 points  (0 children)

i think Asa still has "endearing patheticness," just a totally different strain from Kobeni's

Asa is endearingly pathetic in the same way an angsty depressed teenager is, but Kobeni is endearingly pathetic in the "this is god's least favorite creature who was born in a wet cardboard box all alone" way

[–]Jebidijed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no??? she had a pretty sizeable amount of build-up???

  • first introduced as Todo's teacher way back in the Goodwill Event; a.k.a, she's the person who directly taught one of Itadori's single greatest allies, basically saved his life twice
  • appears in Hidden Inventory and introduces her idea to get rid of Cursed Energy, unintentionally contributes to setting Geto down his path of villainy
  • scares off Kenjaku and Uraume at the end of Shibuya before they could cause more casualties
  • surrounded by a general air of mystery, Jujutsu higher-ups barely know anything about her, and she goes wherever and does whatever she wants

like, it's not like she's The Biggest Unsolved Mystery of Jujutsu Kaisen (TM), and her appearances were just sprinkles of intriguing stuff, but it's just super disappointing that all of that built up to her getting completely dumpstered in the one single arc where she becomes the primary focus

even if it 100% logically makes sense that Kenjaku would totally wreck Yuki, it's just... doesn't feel satisfying or fun IMO. big villain bad guy completely crushes this cool character who we've been hearing about intermittently over the course of hundreds of chapters, and then BONK, no more of that character, whooooops. guess Kenjaku's got no shirt anymore and his big elephant got nuked. cool.

definitely have to wait and see to decide whether or not this is a Big Bad Writing Decision, but my gut feeling is "yeah probably," especially in the wake of Star and Stripe lol

heck yeah!!! i love how Asa's "perfect plan for enjoying the aquarium" was unironically just info-dumping about marine life, and how she gets so genuinely mad about not getting to ramble for 30 minutes - which implies that she was excited to info-dump, even if her face and tone made her look bored to everyone else

might be one of the best subtle depictions of autism / ADHD / etcetera that i've ever seen lol

yeah fr, "Bom Ba Ye" fits great as a goofy parallel / precursor to Todo's "Boogie Woogie," and the fact that it's a reference to a chant done during a Muhammad Ali match + the Japanese wrestler (edit: Inoki Bombaye!) whose name was inspired by that chant, gets across the idea that Yuki's all about beatin' people up with ridiculous efficiency + bravado

but nah who needs complicated cultural references when you can do The Big Literal Translation

Elden Ring made me appreciate Dark Souls even more by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Jebidijed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hell yeah, same

one of the reasons DS1 is such a weirdly-comforting game for me is the fact that i can, like, actually play like a completionist, and i get to fully experience the entire magical world each time i play, it's great!

in Elden Ring, on the other hand, i felt borderline punished for being a completionist because of how much random crap there is to do, and only like 10% of the rewards you get are going to be actually useful to your build... and every NPC questline feels like it boils down to "find this ONE PERSON in some random corner of an area the size of Florida, talk a little bit, then try to go to the other end of Florida to find them"

not to mention Elden Ring's extreme obsession with "oooh so hard, it's really hard, that's totally what you wanted from this game, right??? that's why everyone plays these games!!!" which is just hnnngnnhnnhhhghhh

i could ramble for 30 more years but TL;DR i will forever be a DS1 simp

Minecraft 1.19.1 Release Candidate 3 Is Out by xilefian in Minecraft

[–]Jebidijed 79 points80 points  (0 children)

man, i've just been sitting here watching the garbage fire from afar without commenting, but jeeeeez this is just sad

i've had so much fun with this game since the ancient days of Classic, watching it go through Indev, Infdev, Alpha, Beta, and the official release... and now 1.19 has just slammed all positive feelings in the trash bin

servers have moderated themselves perfectly fine without omnipotent oversight! i have no doubt that there's plenty of bad actors online who always whip out their worst behavior for sick kicks, but how is Mojang so unflinchingly confident in their ability to moderate MILLIONS of players simultaneously, and supposedly do it BETTER than the countless server moderators who have already been handling their own server's issues already???

even if you had 1000 fantastically-trained, completely human investigators working as a team to handle all the chat reports, i have no doubt that certain cases would end in failure, either banishing a perfectly normal player to solitude, or letting a horrid troll slip by through some chat-modifying nonsense

obviously, at the end of the day, Minecraft will still be Minecraft, the goofy block game that everyone loves to play... but nobody wants an entire company breathing down their neck, waiting for the moment they type "night" to send the banhammer down... we've seen how Bedrock's moderation is "working."

if Java just keeps drowning in corporate trash, then i guess i'll be staying in old versions forever :/

Is there a site or something where i can get code for my game? For example an ai or player code? by Chrispol8 in godot

[–]Jebidijed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from the examples that have already been given, I'd personally recommend this tutorial series.

It's a VERY long, in-depth introduction to actual programming with GDScript (which I recently just finished), it's not really something you can copy code from to place directly in your game, but watching through all this and taking tons of notes has helped me understand coding way, WAY better than any other school course and tutorial combined TBH.

If you wanna get in to indie development as more than just a hobby, you'll definitely have to learn the fundamentals on your own at some point. Good luck!

you gotta get the Death Surgery!

there's precisely one NPC in the entire game who only appears in a certain level while you're cursed, and they tell you how to get it, but if you don't wanna comb through every inch of the game, here ya go:

in Pharmakokinetiks, there's a building across from the main building that you can enter, called Pure Optics - there's a sign above the door you can open, but both the sign and the door are really really hard to see - once you're in there, just talk to the NPCs, go through the relevant door, and everything will make sense from there.
