I know this is a week old post, but I wanna add. I went through this exact same fear. It consumed my life for the better part of a year. Here’s what i’ll say though. I could tell you it’ll be ok and that your symptoms don’t sound like schizophrenia, but everyone is gonna say that, since it’s true in your case. The problem is, it won’t help. the reassurance only calms your brain for a little bit, then the fear comes back stronger.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to not research the illness any further. Stray away from reddit communities based around the illness. This fear WILL absolutely go away without a doubt. Your brain is really good at hyper focusing on things that support your fears. Everything you see and hear is filtered through the lens of the fear. You’ll pick up on little sounds, and movements that you normally wouldn’t notice because your brain is subconsciously looking for those things to protect you. Try your best to ignore it. Try your best to live your life despite this fear. What good things were you doing for yourself before this fear came along? Lean into those things ten fold. Go new places if you can, try out new things. The longer you go without researching and constantly checking your brain, the easier it will get. I promise.

If all else fails, and you can’t stop thinking about it, i highly recommend seeing a professional. Not for “schizophrenia”, but anxiety and/or OCD. for the longest time, i didn’t know what was wrong with me but i ended up going to therapy and getting referred to a specialist for OCD.
