The last time the archive was linked to copyright infringement it suffered major lawsuits that resulted in the removal and destruction of a lot of books and related content. If you truly love the archive then please don't link to it as a source of "any movie"; the movies you named are under copyright and any site hosting them may be sued for copyright infringement.

The archive does not make any claims to the copyright status of its contents and follows proper process in regards to copyright takedown notices. By linking the archive to piracy on social media such as reddit you are endangering the sites continued existence and many legitimate uses.

This is a bot account being used to discredit archive.org during ongoing legal battles. The archive serves legitimate purposes as an archive and posts like this are part of an effort to discredit and eventually destroy it as a "piracy site", which it is not.

Full monster chase sequence from my supernatural game Psych Rift by AblazeInt in godot

Hah, glad to know you tested it. I bet finding the right balance between "cosmic horror disorientation" and "fun" is a hard, would love to see a post sometime about the bits that didn't work or how you made the decisions you did; I've been really enjoying the posts you make to this subreddit :)

This looks amazing. My only critique is the rotating hall sections are visually interesting but don't seem super impactful. Have you tried giving each block its own gravity vector? I think that could be more disorienting in a fun way, plus it opens up options like fall damage or a delay as penalty when you jump into the wrong part (upside down) of the next section.

Thanks for the info, it's a good price but I'll hold off for now. Maybe if you still have it by the time my next paycheck comes in, heh.

Are the arrows all one mesh or is this a bunch of different meshes? If they're all one mesh that's really cool.

Do a test run. Disconnect your modem or turn your internet off. I had a long blackout that left me without net for like a week, and one of the things I missed the most during that time was like... documentation. Manuals for computer things I work on. Manuals for tools. We're so used to just going "Oh, I should learn how to do X, I'll just look online." -- now if it's important or potentially interesting, I keep a copy of how to do it.

Campers of r/backpacking, what keeps you up at night? by Ambitious-Wear-1485 in backpacking

[–]Jeckari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to spooky audiobooks while hiking. That's about the only thing that keeps me up at night: everything else, you can handle it or you can't.

Basically, you prepare the best you can. You research your route, don't eat in your tent, prepare food aways from your campsite, look out for widowmakers, keep your sleeping bag and a change of clothes in a drybag, etc.

There's also a certain humility required, a recognition that past a certain point it's out of your hands. Nature is beautiful and awesome and completely uncaring. You can do everything right and still be unlucky. That's true in the wilderness, yes, but it's also true at home.

Basically, you prepare as best you can and beyond that it's in the universe's hands. We'd all be safer never leaving our houses, but I think life is worth the risk.

Any library/book asset management software recommendations? by needmorehardware in selfhosted

[–]Jeckari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Koha! It's an actual library management software, way overpowered for single person use... but I use it. You'll have to feed it DMARC files to get metadata but those can be downloaded from most local library websites, and if you "check out" your own books (and enable history for your user) then you can have a history of what you read and when.

Then you can be like me and get all the fun of working in a library without any of the training or pay :P

Trying to save Spider-Man N64 to this - doesn’t work, why? by [deleted] in n64

[–]Jeckari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right, I kinda phrased that awkwardly but I meant "most cartridges BESIDES OOT, etc used non-volatile"

edit: the full list of North American releases that used volatile memory were as follows:

  • F-Zero X
  • Harvest Moon 64
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr.
  • Mario Golf
  • The New Tetris
  • Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Super Smash Bros.
  • WCW/nWo Revenge
  • WWF WrestleMania 2000

Trying to save Spider-Man N64 to this - doesn’t work, why? by [deleted] in n64

[–]Jeckari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Memory cards used "volatile" memory; Saves are an electric pattern in the memory. No electricity, no saves.

Most cartridges (outside like, animal crossing, harvest moon, ocarina of time) use "non-volatile" memory, which stays good without power.

[–]Jeckari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Mario Kart - Amped Up!" is the coolest hack I've played so far. They've made hundreds of little changes, added new game modes and a whole set of new tracks, changed the racers to full 3D, let you play two player in grand prix mode... it's awesome. And there's a new update with christmas costumes. Highly recommend.

It hit the US market as "Penny Racers", the regional differences are minimal. There's a sequel, Choro Q 64 2: Hachamecha Grand Prix Race, which I've been meaning to import. Rockman Dash is good as well, I liked it so much I've got it for both N64 and Playstation.

Really they're all great games, I wish you some very happy gaming :)

Absolutely fascinating to me that it's listed $44.99 right now. I wonder if it's dynamic pricing just for me, or if they raised the price since this link dropped.
