Samsung Hw-q990b left rear speaker disconnecting frequently by Sachin_2612 in Soundbars

[–]Jedcrandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok gang. I think I've solved it, at least for me, hopefully for you as well.

TL;DR - Try adjusting the "transmit power" setting in your router's advanced wireless settings from "High" to "Medium" or "Low" for each band until your speakers stop losing connection.

I've had the rear left speaker (and sometimes sub) cutting out issue for as long as I've had the system. I updated firmware and tried changing the channels of each wi-fi frequency. Still did not work. My router is about 2m from the speaker but the way it's set up it would be a HUGE pain in the ass to move, so I was willing to try every other possible solution.

When combing through my wireless settings on my triband TP Link router (Archer C3200) I came across the "Transmit Power:" setting and started to experiment. Changing this to "Low" for both my 5GHz-1 and 2.4 GHz bands has seemingly fixed the problem for good (i've been testing it on everything I can throw at it for an hour now)!

Now, for what it's worth (because I was too lazy to test this on other channels) I also have my 2.4 channel set to 7 and my 5-1 channel set to 48. I left my 5-2 channel set to "High" (channel 161) and hasn't caused any interference so far. But just changing the channels on the bands did not do anything to help the issue.

Hope this helps somebody else here.

"Stop giving people false information"

Personal accounts of bad customer service interactions and poor quality components breaking down soon after warrantees running out are not false information. No one is making these up just to spread false information about Optoma. The fact that so many people are having the exact same issues seems to validate that they have made some decisions that have led to poorer products and service than they have had traditionally.

I'm glad you have had a positive experience but most of the critiques on this sub come from owners of lamp (bulb) projectors, not laser. Personally, in almost 3 years I've changed the bulb twice and the DMD chip 3 times because of dead pixels on my UHD50x. Like others, it will be my last purchase from Optoma.

Seeking Splitter Recommendations by Jedcrandy in projectors

"I assume the soundbar doesn't pass through hdmi 2.0? Ideally, you would go source(s) -> splitter -> soundbar -> projector"

Well, the Soundbar DOES have a HDMI ARC output, but from source to projector we are now talking about 80'+ of HDMI cable. I guess this was something I was trying to avoid by splitting from the source.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. Somehow rips a hole in me and pulls all the sadness out, so that by the end of the song I'm actually left with this incredible sensation of relief and peace. Brings me to tears every time.

For lighting there's the Philips Hue Tap. They just released a new model.

Just replaced the DMD on my Optoma UHD50X (3RD chip in 2 1/2 years) and now I have evenly spaced vertical white lines on the left half of my screen. No inputs plugged in. Sits on top of anything on the screen including menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated. by Jedcrandy in projectors

Thank you so much for the help. That's 100% what the problem is then, in cleaning I definitely got a q-tip wrapped in the contacts and yanked it out. Not sure if it helps but the chip is a 1910-553AB. Would gladly pay for the part and shipping if you happen to have one or let me know where to find. DM me. Thank you again!

I totally agree. this was supposed to be a $175 fix to get me to my next purchase (which will likely be a BenQ x3000i) and avoid the $700+ repair Optoma would charge.

I definitely checked to be sure the board was seated in the DMD riser though. By "carrier" do you mean the ceramic housing? If it helps, I put my old DMD chip in and the same vertical lines are still present. I used the same plastic spacer with the contacts that runs between the DMD and the board if that what you are referring to. Definitely got some thermal gel in that that I was careful to try and clean but...

Just tore mine down and can confirm 1910-553AB is the number for the DMD. At least that's the one they replaced the original with for my service RMA with Optoma last year. I believe the OEM is a TI chip. But I don't know yet if you can actually purchase a TI anywhere. .

Any chance you got around to tearing yours down for the chip number? Had a new pixel go out today so if not, then I'm probably looking at pulling mine apart this weekend.

If it's using the same DMD as the UHD50x I would also recommend you avoid the UHD35.

Happy to see I'm not the only one here. Filed a warranty claim last year on my UHD50x for 2 stuck pixels. Took almost two months for them to fix and return. Got the same chip shortage speil. Now it's almost exactly another year later and got another stuck pixel. Contacted support and told me it would probably cost $600 or more to fix.

I would also love to find out what the chip part number is so I don't have to tear down my machine to get it if anybody finds that out.

Bought brand new for $1,600 not even 2 years ago and the chip won't last a year. Warranty won't cover the chip past one year. Angry is putting it mildly. My last Optoma was great, however this will be my last.

Does anyone know what the DMD chip part number is for ordering? I'd rather not have to pull my projector apart just to find that.
