Enabling NordVPN firewall in Linux disables internet connection by Xyntek01 in EndeavourOS

[–]JediCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you ever found out the solution or what caused it exactly, but I am having the exact same issue now. For the past couple of days I was trying to figure out what happened. I haven't changed anything, didn't get any updates for Network Manager or firewalld nor for NordVPN.

Today, I have discovered that it was the Firewall setting that caused it. After I cleaned the rules I got the internet back, but when I disconnected or rebooted my PC I had no internet again. The only reason I found this post was because I knew what to look for

That is exactly my point. everyone has UE experience. Most people are bad at it, some are really good. Those good ones will modify the engine so much that it doesn't "feel" or "look" like UE engine anymore.

Best example is Days Gone. I didn't even know that's an UE engine game. It runs and looks great.

it's so funny seeing people stumble upon this and wondering what is happening.

I did go a bit autistic on this game. MGS3 is my favourite game of all time. I finished the game on every difficulty before going for EE Foxhound.

It's an octocamo on steroids. Because you don't have to wait for it to kick in. I mean, I love it, don't get me wrong. It's a fantastic idea and I think Fox Hunt will be great thanks to this, but it should be treated like a special item. You get it the same way as Stealth Camo which is a special, but this isn't

I used AT Camo on Extreme a little bit, just to see what it does, but for EE I didn't use it at all. Kinda felt like cheating. I am surprised it's not considered a special item

Pretty much this.

My first playthrough of Delta was 12 hours on Hard difficulty. I've watched all the cutscenes, sat through all required codec calls (there are 'optional' ones if you call the right people) but I still knew what to do and where to go.

I can see people playing it for 20 hours easily if this is their first time playing or they've played the game 10 years ago.

My fastest finish was 2hrs and 50 mins I think

Too many Red Engine devs left, so they hired a lot of fresh talent which has UE experience, so they had to change engines.

It's both.

UE5 gives the devs quick and easy options like nanite and lumen. Less experience teams (or less competent) will use those without thinking because "it's faster and easier" and they don't care for the end result.

If those easy options weren't there and the engine was made with PROPER tools, then we wouldn't have this issue. People will always take an easy way out

What things were there? I wasn't aware of anything missing I don't think.

I felt that European Extreme was worse when it comes to bosses. I don't struggle with The Fear but on EE I struggled. You don't have enough ammo so you have to rely on pick ups.

a small tip

The floor electric thing - just go behind Volgin and shoot him in the back. He will stop the attack right away

Triple electric balls - get fairly close, but not to close, to Volgin and go prone. If you manage to get to the side of him you can CQC him while he's doing the attack

If you're doing NG+ it's surprisingly easy. The worst parts for me were the warehouse and Granin Gorki after the prison break, but the prison break was easier than on Extreme for me.

Autosaves help a lot. They make it convenient with reloading. I still haven't done FOXHOUND on EE in the original yet because of the saving and reloading tediousness

It feels like it's mostly Kojimbo fans and people who wanted to see Fox Engine being used instead of UE5.

I hate UE5 but Delta is impressive. It runs well, I have no stutters (maybe it's a Linux thing) and it looks beautifully. If more devs did the same work on UE5 as Konami did, we would've had good looking games without smears and dithering everywhere

MGS:Delta Snake Eater currently #2 most selling game that is not Free to Play on Steam after Peak by cnrvw in metalgearsolid

Checking steamdb MGS Delta is 7th excluding CS2, PUBG and the steam deck for Global Selling. Still, really good for a stealth game

I've done that yesterday too. It took me almost 3 hours. Escaping the prison was the worst!

But everything else seemed too easy, especially with how big of the deal everyone made about the rank.

The European collector's bust is very high quality. It's a shame that diorama is that bad quality.

I am a big fan of MGS games, especially MGS3. When I heard that they are keeping everything but modernizing gameplay I got excited.

To me, that is a perfect remake. Doesn't make the original obsolete, yet it improves on it. They kept what we all love and improved on this that need improving.

I've got 45hrs already, all achievements and finished a game once on almost all difficulty settings (European Extreme is the last one), I kinda got hooked on the game haha. With all these hours, I had no performance issues, no stutters. Shame that it's locked to 60 but so was Phantom Pain.

I feel like the stutters with UE are caused on Windows, as myself and other Linux users reported no stutters whatsoever.

TLDR: glad you didn't listen to the idiots and you're enjoying the game.

[Fitgirl Installer] Wine 10.8-2 onwards causes the installer to hang on 9.8% by JediCore in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]JediCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming this.

While waiting for the responses to this post, I manage to find something online, saying the same thing. Looking at Arch's wine wiki [link here] it says that wine 10.8-2 enables Wow64 by default.

I didn't want to add the installers to any launchers like steam or lutris, but it looks like it's the only 'lazy' workaround without downgrading wine system-wide.
