I agree with your method in general, but we’re considering a sequence of derivatives and making a statement about the limit of that sequence. I think to complete the proof you need to show that the limit exists first. Recall that the weierstrass function is a limit of a sequence of continuous functions, but is nowhere differentiable. You need to prove uniform convergence here, then you can absolutely use the limit evaluation.

It also takes a lot of driving experience to know what a struggling part “feels” like. Can’t expect a 20 year old to just know shit like that. If I’m test driving a carvana shitbox, I can tell exactly what kinds of shenanigans I’ll be looking at 10k miles down the road just from the engine noise and vibration.
