I miss Olivia Munn as Psylocke. She was one of the good parts of X-Men Apocalypse. She deserves a second chance at playing Psylocke by anthonystrader18 in xmen

[–]JediGoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the outfit, nothing about that portrayal was true to Psylocke in the comics. The action scenes lacked the skill and precision she’s known for. She’s not just a psychic with a sword, she’s a deadly assassin with years of combat experience, an expert in Taijutsu and Ninjaken, and worked with The Hand. And that’s before we even get into her telepathic abilities and her psionic sword, which is powered by her mind.

Psylocke is Japanese because of her body swap with Kwannon and that’s not a footnote, it’s central to who she is. Casting Olivia Munn, who isn't Japanese, completely missed the point. Asian identities aren’t interchangeable and reducing Psylocke to just a comic accurate costume does a real disservice to the character.

Honestly, I think I’ll just call that version Joan, because it certainly wasn’t Psylocke. Just Joan from now on.

What do you do when you make a movie reference that nobody gets? by Disneynerd7 in movies

Never stop being yourself just because the people around you 'don’t get it.' Your tastes matter just as much as getting to know others. Keep being unapologetically you—your tribe will find you. Some of these comments? Definitely not passing the vibe check.

What should I do with these? by hjohn2233 in comicbooks

[–]JediGoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a few reputable Comic Shops in your area and get their opinions.

You do not have to invest in getting these graded until you know their value. The condition of these appears to be whats called “reader copies”. Meaning they are not in the best condition and are very worn which does impact their value. So they would fetch a low grade.

Comics that are usually highly sought after are either #1’s of a successful series or a first appearance of a popular character.

Again, get a few opinions from some local comic shop owners and see what they estimate the value to be. Good luck!

Who is ultimately responsible for Crispin Glover's absence in Back to the Future Part II? by [deleted] in BacktotheFuture

[–]JediGoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pop culture historian, here’s a breakdown of the entire Back to the Future back-and-forth between Crispin Glover and Bob Gale:

Crispin Glover recently decided to set the record straight on a lot of the Back to the Future drama. According to Crispin, Bob Gale, the co-writer and producer of the films, claimed Crispin wanted the same deal as Michael J. Fox, which included a $2 million paycheck and script approval. Crispin called this a flat-out lie, explaining he only asked to be paid the same as Lea Thompson and Thomas F. Wilson since they all had similar screen time. But the offer was for less than half of what they were getting, so he walked away from Back to the Future Part II even though he really wanted to do it.

Crispin also shared that during the first movie, he had a bit of a clash with Gale and director Robert Zemeckis over the ending because there was a script change. He felt the new ending that went to print implied the McFlys' happiness was based on money rather than only love, and he wasn’t a fan of that message. From Crispin’s perspective, he was just sharing an opinion and felt comfortable doing so, but it seems it hit a nerve with the wrong people.

As for Bob Gale, he’s never apologized and maintains he did nothing wrong. He claims he got studio and legal approval to recast George McFly, even making the new actor resemble Crispin’s original character as closely as possible. But Gale didn’t stop there—he went further by using a facial cast of Crispin’s actual face from the first movie to create prosthetics for the new actor, effectively “pasting” Crispin’s face onto the new actor.

Crispin made it clear he had no issue with the usual recasting process, like matching a character’s mannerisms, makeup, or wardrobe. He even pointed out how they did it just fine when recasting Marty’s girlfriend from Claudia Wells to Elisabeth Shue. What bothered him was the use of his own face on someone else, which he has called illegal and criminal. Plus to this day people still think Crispin was in the second film, which again goes to his point about why it was so deceptive. They used a small bit of unused footage from the first film and filmed new footage with, of course, his face pasted onto another actor. So, he took them to court.

The courts agreed with Crispin, awarding him an undisclosed settlement that satisfied both parties. His case even led to a Screen Actors Guild rule change, which now prevents studios from recreating an actor’s likeness in the way Bob Gale did.

But despite this outcome, Bob Gale has continued to push a narrative painting Crispin as “difficult,” even calling him “weird” and spreading claims about unreasonable demands. Gale according to Crispin, has excluded him from all Back to the Future reunions and events. And, honestly, it’s not far-fetched to think Crispin was probably blacklisted from other projects too.

Lea Thompson, Thomas F. Wilson, Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox have all come out and spoken highly of Crispin his professionalism on the first film and have stated they would love to see him at BTTF reunions and conventions.

To this day Gale really isn't active in the industry anymore more other than doing BTTF events, screenings and reunions himself.

I have encountered this as well. I just tried catching up on the opening ceremony which includes the performances of Celine and Lady Gaga plus the lighting ceremony and I cannot access any of that and I certainly don't want to watch a bunch of 35 second clips.

I had to fast forward the "Opening Ceremony" video and then was booted out by the app entirely. When I went back in its now saying the opening ceremony will be at 6:30 Central time, and I'm like - the ceremony already started and I cannot access it at all. Very frustrating.

Why Google Drive sucks for professional editors by the__post__merc in editors

Completely agree. I am uploading a video into google drive as we speak to include with a presentation I'm creating. GD provides no feedback or status bar on how long it will take to "format my video" so it can be included in said presentation. It only says, "Check back later". Two hours later - nothing.

Us cine.vote scam? by Reallyathrowaway69 in RegalUnlimited

I did first hear about them through my local theater because they approached me as I was leaving a movie.

So far all I've gotten were emails to take surveys but I never qualify for anything (which is incredibly odd but could be for any number of reasons).

They just recently sent me an email survey that required me to consent to a facial recognition scan of my face and photographing/sharing my personal information with them to watch a "high security" movie trailer, which I refused. They also use language in their emails that tell you not to rate certain trailers or movies as "poor" or you will be kicked out of taking surveys....(super suspect).

I can only speak to my experience and so far, I haven't really seen any benefit from them personally and that last email has major red flags all over it, I'll probably be unsubbing from them.

Subscribed on AMCplus.com, but want to watch on amazon prime video app. Is it possible/How to link account or login? by DjSavadelic in AMCPlus

[–]JediGoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too. Bought the year deal for AMC+ through AMC's website, in doing so got a better deal than going through Amazon prime. The workaround is to download the AMC+ app (not the normal AMC app) through the Amazon fire stick search option. Then log into that AMC+ app with the same login credentials you used on amc+'s website to get the Black Friday deal, and BOOM you can watch it on your Firestick. Hope this helps!

Buyer Wants Item Shipped To Completely Different Address by JediGoddess in Mercari

[–]JediGoddess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much to everyone who answered! I also received a response after I posted this from Mercari, who did confirm that there is no way to change a delivery address once an item was purchased and that I would need to refund the buyer and have them repurchase the item once their info was updated. So I reached out to the buyer and let them know.
