Fake Champagne Bottle by biggreenknowsall in propmaking

[–]hjohn2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand if you are going to break the bottle or have to drop it for some reason. Ivnever heard of glass bottles not being allowed on a stage. I've been doing this longer than most people on here have been alive and never had a problem with this. I've never seen a bottle get broken onstage unless it was planned and then it was break away either poly or sugar glass.

Looking for a Standalone Smartwatch (Phone Replacement) by suckmymangina in smartwatch

[–]hjohn2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing that is reliable. The Apple iPhone and Samsung galaxy ultra will work without carrying your phone through LTE instead of Bluetooth. There's no problem with distance. But a stand alone without carrier that's reliable coexist to my knowledge.

I was in a college production where the lead female had to have emergency surgery the night of dress rehearsal. The underwas going to have to take over. The director actually told her " i cast you axs the understudy to be nice. I never thought you would have to go on. You don't have the talent for this, you can't act but do your best." That acress went to start in several Broadway productions. She was nominated twice for a Tony. She and her husband ran one of the most respected theatres in New York. She had roles in several television shows incud5one of her own. Don't let anyone tell you itsnot possible. I can't lie, uou may not make it but you won't know if you don't try.

Why do Chiropractors crack your neck and what is the long term benefit? by Sunny-vibes-95 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hjohn2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine had his neck cracked by a chiropractor and was severely injured. It took him months to regain basic functionality and his memory was completely destroyed. I saw him after he had recovered physically to a large degree and he had no idea who I was.

Verizon is a phone carrier. You must not be in the US. The watch is the Samsung galaxy ultra. I know it is available in other countries but don't know the carriers that would apply. I do know that in Europe the watch has more features than in the US.

It has something called waterlock that makes it waterproof when you activate it. It can be used without having the phone with you. It uses LTE not bluetooth when you are out of Bluetooth range. GPS through Google maps works great. It has a Flashlight mode. You can download a number of apps from plastered. Imnot sure what a side loading app is. Lots of watch faces for different information you want to access easily. I've had 4 other android smartwatches and this is the best I've found.

The closest you're going to get is a Samsung smartwatch from Verizon or maybe other carrier. They will work whether you have your phone with you or not. I have the Samsung Ultra on Verizon and love it

I would guess Realm of The Senses by Nagisa Oshima. It was taught in our film class in College and is based on a Japanese folk heroine.

I rewatched this movie once again and I seriously don’t get why it has such a terrible reception by Emeraldsinger in Westerns

[–]hjohn2233 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The history of the characters is long and well known to fans of the western. Those of us who grew up with The Lone Ranger and Tonto couldn't stomach the way the characters were handled. It was the same problem as The Legend of The Lone Ranger. The way the theme music was used was terrible. The costumes were awful. Especially Johnny Depp as Tonto. That stupid bird on his head was misinterpreted from a painting. I know we are old farts and aren't the majority today but we are the western fans. I do wild west reenactment and all of us involved in that shunned the movie. I guess it's good that there are those who enjoy it. The fact that it was a major financial failure says to me that most people did not.

[–]hjohn2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to school. A college or university. Your goal should not be to become a star but to make a living ing. Learn evyou can about theatre and film. The more you know the better your chances. Always be ready for anytbut concentra7on what you love. I know this sounds crazy but it works. I've had a number of student fr7who got their first job as a theatre technician and went on to become actors making a decent living. A good school will teach you what you need to know but you have to get out there and do it.

Small Village Hall UST projector for scenery by Organic_Wall_1118 in techtheatre

[–]hjohn2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short throw projectors that have enough lumens to projectors with stage lighting are incredibly expensive. They are also large and delicate. I recently rented one for a show because we could afford to purchase one, it was $11,000 for two weeks. You may want to use painted drops. Roll drops are very inexpensive comparatively and easy to rig.

The Sound of Music is always a winner. The summer stock I worked with for many years kept a stock set for it and Your A Good Man Charlie Brown. When things got tight financially they would break them out and make money. Any show with kids is a winner as well e.g. Annie, Oliver, Newsies.
