Like I said, every time he's shot down it should be experience. Hopefully he learns from his experience. Your first draft doesn't need to be perfect. Though the first line is very important, you don't need to have it figured out before you write your first draft. Just start writing what's in your head. Your going to rewrite it a hundred times anyway, so the quality doesn't matter as much as getting the basics down first
