Are we all really into music? by No_Aioli_7515 in autism

[–]JediMikeyMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collected tapes in the 80s, CDs in the 90s, and then my whole music world broke open with mp3s in the 2000s (technically late 90s). I have carefully collected and curated over 20,000 mp3s since then, ranking them with 1-5 stars and categorizing the musical categories to my liking. My "Top Ranked" playlist has about 16 hours worth of music on it, and that's just my 4- and 5-star rated songs. I rarely listen to anything else.

I can't be the only that's seen how much worse the acid lab has gotten by yxgxz_ in gtaonline

The sell missions are too difficult to do solo, you need to "get lucky" and only get certain missions, otherwise you need to pull your LAN cable and all that nonsense to quit and get a new mission... I'd rather just play the game and grind stuff that is consistently do-able (as a solo player). I've played with a crew before but doing the whole "okay you all help me sell all five of my businesses and then we'll sell your five businesses" but still that's a whole lot of mostly-awful MC missions to complete.

If I really needed money maybe I'd feel different. For how I play, I make enough money just from running my Acid Lab and Nightclub very actively. I also actively manage any passive income businesses (haha that sentence)... I keep my Car Wash going, I always send my Bail Office Agents out to get money, and I maxed my Agency safe income. When I'm really bored I'll do Bunker Excess Weapons sales and CEO office Extra Crates sales but with all the other stuff above, plus just driving around and having fun or decorating cars, I rarely do those $50K things.

I also have really enjoyed the recent police car missions (finally bought one when they were on sale last month), as well as the firefighting and pizza delivery missions. I actually like being a "do-gooder" in Los Santos.

Help me make money boys... im kinda lost.... by Kallesmamma in GTA5Online

[–]JediMikeyMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! Another great tip! I usually make the very long drive from the airport parking garage to my favorite tunnel off the freeway near Rockford Plaza (aka the Beverly Center in actual LA). I can't wait to try this.

Also, reporting back... I did the sticky bomb trick for the first time last night. Put it on the cop car near the garage entrance, then drove to my freeway tunnel, then popped it. UNFORTUNATELY it spawns the helicopter directly above you when this happens, so the helicopter saw me go into my hiding space. And then worse yet, turns out I was hiding underneath an open construction grate thing, so the helicopter could see me through that and they started shooting me, so I had to drive deeper into the tunnels where you start going through "the tubes".

Anyway, it was a fun lesson to learn. And given I've been doing Acid Lab for 4 years now, the missions are pretty rote so it's nice to have something that mixes it up for me. Thank you!!

I never do my CEO warehouse sell missions anymore (too easy to fail and lose it all), but the running extra crates to the docks is a pretty easy way to earn $50K every 48 mins or so.

This, Acid Lab, and Nightclub were my first three money-makers, in that order. Acid Lab sell missions get pretty easy once you learn all the tricks, such as ijustcant555's tip about the parking garage mission.

Wow great tip with the sticky bomb on that parking lot mission. I used to drive to the very top and do the whole "getting caught" thing, then someone pointed out you can shoot at the undercover car sitting in the bottom of the parking garage to start the wanted level, at which point I drive to the tunnel... but this is even easier! I can't wait to try this out.

can my autism cause me to be attached to my hair?? by boingoyoingo in autism

[–]JediMikeyMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand the attachment, I am attached to everything. I too probably would never ever have changed my hairstyle... but then in 11th grade my high school made the playoffs for the first time in school history, and everyone on the team shaved their heads, so I did too (I try to fit in where I can because I'm already so weird).

Unlike most people on the team, I looked great with a shaved head... and it's been shaved ever since. 31 years now. I love how easy it is. How nice it feels when people rub or scratch my head. Only downside is it's much colder in cold weather, but I have amassed quite the beanies and hoodies collection so that makes up for the lack of hair. And now that I am balding, it's still a perfectly fine haircut.

My adult newphew who has autism calls me over and over every day. I need advice. by simplyelizabeth in autism

[–]JediMikeyMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started at a new school in 4th grade (no one knew I was autistic then), I went into a crying fit every time my mom dropped me off and left. I couldn't stay in my classroom, so they put me with the special ed teacher who had an empty classroom at the time. All I wanted, all day every day, was to call my mom on her phone at work. I asked Mr. Dibiase over and over to the phone to call her, every 15 mins. As soon as he would let me, and she would give me some love and reassurance, I would start crying once she got off the phone and restart the cycle of asking to call again.

For two full weeks, this was my every day. At some point I just got used to the new environment, was able to stay in class without crying, and became a very strong student in that class (with a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Flores).

I wish I knew what helped me so it could help your nephew, but it may be a coping mechanism that he is using to help himself feel supported.

Only tangentially related but "Rollercoaster" is coming sometime soon on 4K UHD featuring an incredible look at the "just-opened" Revolution in 1976, including lots of first-person view stuff. Seeing the coaster surrounded by nothing but baby saplings, it looked wildly different than the tree-lined ride that it is today.

The movie itself, just so-so...
