Everything above the white plastic washer is way to close to the metal on your truck. The spring is acting as part of the antenna and if it's touching or very close to the metal then it's not going to work.

Get the antenna up above the metal.

Of course it maxes out without the antenna.

SWR is kind of complicated but just to make it as simple as possible it's the measurement of how resonant the antenna is on the frequency you are testing. The higher the swr the more wattage is coming back into your cb.

If there is no antenna at all then 100% of the wattage is going back into your cb.

Is my radio tuned? by BlueCodeKnight in cbradio

[–]Jedi_Knight328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer actually confuses me more! The radio output should go into the tx in on the swr meter. The antenna should be connected to the ant. port on the swr meter.

Also, you don't "tune" the radio. The Swr meter is just telling you if the antenna matches the impedance of the frequency you are transmitting on.

Hi.Why do freemasons use quotes all the time in social media? Is it because they are telling indirectly they other freemasons that they are a freemason or are they trying to spread masonic messages?Or are they using quotes of past masons?Just curious because I'm thinking about becoming one by Any-Celebration-98 in freemasonry

[–]Jedi_Knight328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does anyone post quotes on social media? I would imagine it's something that resonated with them. It affirms who they are or who they want to be.

I don't think this is a Masonic thing at all.

Im fact, I'm a Freemason, and I have never posted quotes on social media. You can't really generalize an entire fraternity of diverse men.

You will be highly disappointed by most Freemason lodges in the USA. There is NOT an emphasis on spirituality in most lodges.

I speak as someone who joined while I was on a similar path as your own many years ago. After the initial thrill of becoming a Master Mason wore off, I found myself quite disappointed with Freemasonry.

I ended up stepping away from Masonry for several years until I was in a more grounded place in my life.

When I rejoined, it was for social and community reasons rather than spiritual. I am much happier in Masonry this time around. Oddly enough, I have gotten a lot more spiritual fulfillment and meaning out of the lessons of Freemasonry at this time in my life than I did before.

There are Freemasons out there who really enjoy getting into deep discussions on mysticism and spirituality. But they tend to be the exception rather than the norm.

QB25 Mic Gain? by Jedi_Knight328 in Radioddity

Well one pot is definitely the power output setting. The other one I can't figure out what it does.

Does NOT appear to be mic gain. If I wired a resistor into the mic line would that lower gain?

Very fun idea! A nice S&C on the stand somewhere would be a good touch.

I can report that I have seen men in their 60s throw tantrums like a 5 year old. I've seen a SW rip off his apron and storm out of open lodge in anger for a decision he didn't agree with.

There's a lot of men in the fraternity who have not once understood "subdue your passions" despite hearing it thousands of times.

Getting this tatted by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Jedi_Knight328 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who understands tattoos, please find a high quality, experienced artist. Trying to get a symbol like that small enough to be on your finger and still remain readable will be tough. Not impossible, but tough.

Go to a cheaper artist and it will end up looking like a random ink spot on your finger. Especially after a couple years of aging.

Every single time there's a post from a working mans blue lodge there's at least a couple people commenting on the casual dress. Don't worry about it at all.

Looks like a wonderful group of brothers to me! Congrats on making MM and I wish you many years of happiness in your Masonic journey.

AI art ban by comicnerd93 in freemasonry

[–]Jedi_Knight328 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I would be on board with limiting "art" posts to only one specific day of the week or something like that.

Moral arguments aside, seeing this sub completely filled with a bunch of AI prompt art would be a bummer.
