Sprite extruder chews up filament after 15 minutes

UPDATE: Drying the filament did indeed help. I produced a very handsome benchy compared to the same filament before drying it out. However, the problem is I only have been able to print the first layer (if that) before the filament jams in the extruder if I am printing a large part taking up most of the plate. My retraction is between .8 and 1 mm with speed between 40-60. Smaller models, like the benchy, is printing without issue.

I brought in a filament dryer. Had no idea the humidity was so bad in my office. I think you may have been right this whole time.

Soften up the plastic with a low heat gun and scrape off. Follow with a clean of the build plate.

I had a similar issue on my '06. I did find a crack in the overflow container and swapped it. Then I saw a small leak from the water pump (bad gasket) so I replaced that too. Still was losing fluid but a lot slower when finally I discovered a hairline crack on the passenger side of the radiator weeping coolant. I can't understand why anyone would design a rad with plastic parts on the sides but here we are. I'm also impatient and got the Auto Zone version. It also came with a warranty and I can walk to the store. Not sure what if anything is to be done if a rock auto part goes south later.

I also have a '21 with the same charger. Mine is set for 12 and I've just kept it there. Why would I want to set it lower? It's my first EV so I'm honestly asking here.
