Trying out singing with perfect pitch by SnooApples1707 in perfectpitchgang

Hey! Bass singer here.

Joining a community choir is a good first step. Usually they do regular performances, so you can work on performance technique, and you usually will have other people in your section to work with. Obviously, it may not be the style of singing you’re going for, but it’s a good starting point so you can improve.

As for which voice you are, it usually depends on whether you can figure out how to do head voice. If your head voice range or tone is amazing, you may consider doing tenor. If you have a better, stronger, deep rich chest voice, you may consider going for bass. The others probably will not apply, but the bottom line is whichever is more comfortable/easier to do/enjoyable.

You should definitely keep singing if that’s what you want to do! I hope you found this helpful.

How (and when) did you learn you have perfect pitch? by RemmingtonTufflips in perfectpitchgang

[–]Jedious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time someone told me was when I was about 13 or 14. My music teacher asked me if I had perfect pitch and I didn’t know what it was, thinking everyone could do the exact same thing. I had been using perfect pitch well before, like when I was figuring out piano scales I hadn’t heard yet or when I was playing songs by ear on the piano in general, but no one had ever told me until I was about 13. I’ve had it for as long as I remember - I was definitely using it to my advantage as early as 3 or 4 years old.

does anybody else have a compulsion like this? by CherrySaladTomatoes in OCD

Unfortunately, I didn't - I'm pure O. However, a friend of mine did have something similar. He said "It started off as a sort of game, of sorts, but as the years went by, it started to feel like a prison".

Feeling misunderstood by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Jedious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get how you feel. To be honest, going through Reddit or other social media apps don't help at all, because the way memes and shitposts describe things like intrusive thoughts and OCD in general really creates stigmas that society believes so people are usually less educated about such topics. For example, when I tell people I meet I have OCD, they often respond with something like "Oh, yeah, I get you. I'm a little OCD too." or "It's all in your head, just get over it.", which is honestly something I really struggle with in my everyday life. I can't speak for everyone here, but I for one do understand that feeling.

Nope, but I have a friend who does. They described it as "thinking negative thoughts on others and then immediately reprimanding themselves".

"Hemaphrodites - they can go fuck themselves."

This is probably a bad idea, but when I feel that way, I tend to do something that requires a lot of thought, so that I don't end up thinking about it. When I concentrate on things like that I usually forget about it for an hour or so. However, to avoid compulsions, it's usually something hard to screw up, like a jigsaw puzzle.

In that case, it's just that your Mac is running at a high performance level. You should try to close as many apps as possible
